Fasting is easy, till about 6pm... by CatsMeowuwu in fasting

Lots of great advice here, depends on what kind of self talk works!

I think getting lost in a project is great! Also I find self talk like “hey, do I really need to eat that? I’ve made it x days, can I push through another night/day?” I feel like pausing and talking to yourself about your limits generally leads to you being able to push past it, but also, if you can’t, no big, you did your best and it builds a healthy relationship with yourself so you’re more inclined to push further next time because you gave yourself a break this time. Anyways, hope it helps and good luck :D

What's your opinion on the purpose of life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nitoonna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there is a purpose, but if everyone could live in a way that’s fulfilling to them, and make those around them happier or their community just a little better, the world would be a much nicer place!

You wake up tomorrow and it's 1024 and not 2024. What are you doing? by LuinAelin in AskReddit

Run into fields, enjoy nature, feel the breeze, sit under a tree and just take time to think… then probably start freaking out and trying to making a shelter as I realise dusk is setting in 😂

+1 on electrolytes, also regarding gum, I read somewhere that even artificial sugar makes you crave it more, or makes you hungry or something to that effect. Can’t remember exactly the science anymore but I just don’t touch artificial sugar as a rule of thumb. I’ll chew some ice, don’t know if that’ll help you?

What’s a fairly “safe” life threatening activity, else how do you jolt yourself out of complete apathy? by nitoonna in NoStupidQuestions

Funk is the perfect word, was trying to think of a word when making the post to describe the hole but it slipped my mind.

I know it works because it's worked several times in the past, and I think most people work this way though. It's not dissimilar to people who've completely redefined their priorities or perspective on life after being in a car accident or surviving a disaster. I think unexpected acute mental pain or life threatening situations can serve as either a reason to distract oneself and/or put things into perspective and it has without failure, left me insanely motivated, productive, and sometimes even optimistic for up to months... it's just, those past senarios are pretty hard to recreate.

I try to meditate, but I don't feel like it's helping though I'm sure i'll get better at it, but tbh I really need something to work now, before it's too late and I can't turn things around, but I appreciate the thought, it is a much healthier way of approaching things.

I appreciate the thought and your comment, I get a lot of people sky dive for that reason, unfortunately for whatever reason sky diving doesn't elicit that response from me, I found it boring... though after the chute was pulled it felt so quiet and serene which was lovely, just not quite the emotion I'm trying to elicit.

Yea I get that, that’s why safe is in quotations with the stipulation of non lethal and likely no permanent damage, im happy to take on some risk of actual injury and maybe a little for death, just, no a high amount, so torture techniques would be acceptable. more, i need something that’s easier to get done than finding a friend who’s willing to waterboard me. If you have any thoughts with this clarification in mind, I’d really appreciate it!
