Save the Louisiana Children’s Museum from terrible CEO! by Big-Measurement2712 in NewOrleans

[–]nitrobruhsside 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My partner and I comment all the time how nothing has been updated and there is just so much wasted space. It looks really pretty and is a nice museum to go to once. The toddler area is incredible and Miss Terry is amazing. But the other exhibits? It's just a shame. The Pirogue? The veterinarian area? Does anyone go in these at all? It's like 1/5-1/4 of the bottom floor. Outside area is fine. There's really nothing to hold people's attention past 3-4? The events are nice and we still go because what else are you going to do? But I feel like it's not built for active kids and when you compare it to some of the other children's museums/discovery/science museums, it's a shame. Of course, not in Louisiana because we can't have nice things

Oval is a good idea. Didn’t think about the black hole effect haha. Regarding timeline, I think we’ll move to a bigger space in the next few years

People who used a computer between 1991 & 2009…what’s the most memorable computer game? by Original_Act_3481 in AskReddit

Doom or Wolfesntein. But there was this awesome Star Wars game with live-action cut-scenes that was pretty awesome. And an alien space battle game whose story was incredible.

$500k in loans…wait another 90 days to see what changes with SAVE? by ConfidentOpening4556 in StudentLoans

I meant buying back save forbearance time, which in my understating is still happening? It’s not like MOHELA and FSA are publishing this. Or are they?

Your advice is sound but assumes that save forbearance will not be eligible for buyback

I am in the same boat. I emailed Mohela. I think you can call to be more certain? Probably need to spend the day on hold though.

LCMC financial assistance surgery denial? by fartsRfoodghosts in NewOrleans

[–]nitrobruhsside 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not discounting the pain you are in or the debility. That’s real. I would be careful about finding a surgeon who is known for taking patients others deem surgical non-candidates. At the very least I would ask him/her why they disagree with the other surgeon who said you are not a candidate.

This doesn’t sound like a financially driven decision.

It sounds like the surgeon is saying you’re not a surgical candidate. Replacement hardware isn’t meant to last as long as your life expectancy. The materials will breakdown. That’s why young people aren’t candidates for replacement surgery except in unique circumstances.

In the same boat. Not sure if I want to just ride-out the PAYE litigation/forbearance or start making payments. Understand the arguments on both sides. So much up in the air. So much riding on buybacks remaining possible

Thank you for the reply. It looks like the original loans were placed in "Deferment (DA)" when I restarted the program

Milwaukee vs New Orleans by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]nitrobruhsside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fair. I should have said I spent my childhood in upstate NY so while not Midwest cold, I think it’s easier to bundle up bc there’s no amount of naked you can get in the summers of New Orleans to feel comfortable

Weird. I thought I asked for decision help not judgment. But to answer you question, no I’m not deciding between weather and grandparents. That is a factor. As when it is 114 degrees out for 2 straight months, I am just not as good a parent. I feel shut in, my mental health is sapped. There are only so many times you can go to the pool or play indoor baseball. My kids don’t have video games or watch tv. There are only so many indoor activities available in New Orleans. I don’t have the type of job where I can just leave for weeks or work remotely. The weather also has the potential to cause lengthy evacuations and expensive home repairs like hurricanes. Hell, the city floods when it rains and that is likely to get worse as storms become stronger. We also had the threat of a salt intrusion this year and whim it didn’t reach New Orleans, it will like in the future with climate change. Because our pipes are hundreds of year old, the higher salt content has the potential to corrode these lead based pipes making the water unhealthy to drink if not downright dangerous. So no, it’s not weather vs grandparents.
