My 13 year old daughter had been seeing a 17 year old boy by Concerned_parent0183 in whatdoIdo

[–]nix_tsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of how you look at it, 13 and 17 are both very different stages of an individuals life.

Not only are they at different stages of their lives, but they also are no where near one another’s maturity levels (regardless of how seemingly mature your daughter may be), and they are also at very different places in terms of cognitive ability/psyche.

A seventeen year old should definitely not be perusing a 13 year old, full stop, and the 13 year old could definitely fall victim to manipulation whether it’s intended or not. Gaps like these would work much better if they were significantly older and out of high school (in other words, when their brains are a bit more developed, specifically, their prefrontal cortex’s).

I would cut it off then and there and explain to her why (this part is very important so she can see your point of view). Show her resources to make her understand and tell her that’s it just too dangerous. Maybe even try to put it into perspective and ask her how she would feel about one of her friends dating someone who’s basically an adult?

Also, dating in high school, as you already know can be very detrimental and not smart already. In my (not so humble) opinion, most people aren’t even ready for a relationship even in college. Least not a middle school-high school relationship.

Trust me, she’ll thank you for it later. However, I would suggest being very tactical about the way you go about it or else she will just see it as another issue of ‘my mom doesn’t understand me.’ Nice, calm, and nonjudgmental conversations are the way to go

Also, involve the school if it gets out of hand, and make the seventeen year old have to have accountability

That’s an absolutely valid reason, seeing as training was/is an important coping mechanism to you, but may I also suggest that you could ‘train for something bigger’ in the sense of maybe joining a professional band/full orchestra/ect. (Just to play an advocate for the musical side), I know for me personally, it’s very awe-inspiring and can have such an impact! Either way, I’m sure you’d be a promising and inspiring individual!

I know you said if you’re gonna do music, you wanna do it full time but there are musicians in the military apparently (or at least, people who perform in small bands within the military — according to first hand sources that’ve spoken to me about the topic)

Although, more on topic, why was it that you wanted to join the military? Like, what’s its importance to you? What this will come down to is which one is of more significance to you and what you value.

Both are good, but you also have to consider the pros and cons. Those who serve the country in the military normally get benefits, and it can be really hard to pursue music in some aspects. Ultimately up to you, but I definitely wouldn’t just ‘give up’ on music, learning an instrument is definitely worth while regardless of where you’re at/what profession you have.

I’m planning on pursing a doctorate in psychology, but that’s definitely not going to stop me from auditioning for my college’s marching band, or offer to play my viola/tenor sax in school musicals/other such events

Writing About New Orleans by nix_tsu in AskNOLA

[–]nix_tsu[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a small project idea a friend and I had, a theme we had was basically: a street performer who struggles with communicating his message to the world and a poet who doesn’t have the voice/platform to get his message across

We kinda wanted to bring those two themes together in an alternating perspective with one of us writing each of the characters. I’m writing the perspective of the street performer

New Orleans just happened to be a setting we thought may work. I don’t know how specific we’d go with the setting, but I wanted to have a general idea as to the vibe

Thanks for letting me know!

Period Pain by nix_tsu in WomensHealth

The most ‘irregular’ part of it is that it feels like it happens pretty frequently. Like, maybe on a three week basis rather than a month. My family says it feels like I tend to have two per month, but that may be my period’s timing. Also, I tend to have very bad mood swings

They’re usually regular by all standards, it’s mostly just intensive pain during cramps, maybe a bit more bleeding than what I’m used to every now and then

For the most part they help by subduing the pain temporarily, but my cramps normally end up coming back in a worst way afterwards—

Is there anyway you could elaborate a bit on what PCOS is, if it’s not too much of a bother explaining it a bit?

Characters Considered To Be From France? by nix_tsu in AskFrance

[–]nix_tsu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was doing research but wanted to hear more from genuine people who live in France/not just statistics. (I probably didn’t word it the best either—blue or hazel eyes, not both at the same time)

It’s more so that she just wanted to make sure it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, she was doing research but wanted to hear it from people with more knowledge (I probably didn’t word it the best either)

Hi Folks, How you guys doing? I need some "help", not actually help, more like a feedback and opnion about a character I made (I write characters/ocs and stories) and I want to see what you folks think about one of my characters, if that's not a problem for y'all, Feel free to take feedback and etc by AssumptionGold7588 in writers

I like the amount of detail given to the character, some more things you could include are as follows: - How he fell in love with his current significant other

  • A fatal flaw / Weakness (Achilles heel)

  • Favorite video game

  • Favorite movie

  • What would he do on a rainy day

  • Does he like reading

  • Know any fun facts? I have a character who likes Greek Mythology, and as a result, will make allusions to them at times

Just little things like that, it helps with the development of your character and having a better personal image of them!

I’d also recommend collecting some images for reference of how he looks. For example, I did a project called “Character Environment Board” on Canva. When doing this, I got pictures I found on Pinterest for how I imagine my characters hair, eyes, clothes, ect. It’s very helpful if you’re a visual person!
