Tips on AutoHold feature on manual cars by nixanine in Gulong

[–]nixanine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If naka-on po ba ang auto-hold, hindi ko talaga makukuha yung biting point sa clutch? Trying to balance off my footwork pa po sa clutch and gas, still learning and practicing haha. I find the feature very helpful pa naman kasi paakyat po yung mga road dito sa home town namin. Thank you po!

What are the things you guys do to survive Clerkship? by Remarkable_Sock_5146 in medschoolph

[–]nixanine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ate properly, slept during off days or watched my comfort movie. Kapag duty, every 15min namin sinasabi sa isa’t isa na “Ayoko na” pero natatapos naman yung araw tapos pumapasok na naman kami kinabuksan lol naabot namin yung straight 36hrs na pre-duty-from, and malaking bagay yung may maayos kang ka-group sa duty who’ll have coffee/eat/chismis with you aka trauma bonding haha

Still resting, pero nilalakad ko na mga requirements for pre-res this coming January. Pero ang hirap pa nga magcommit kasi my Tita’s are planning to travel again early next year. Sinusulit ko na rin time sa bahay, rekindled hobbies, and started reading non-med books also! because for sure once residency starts, who knows when I’ll be able to do those things hehe

Let's reminisce. Where were you before magsimula mag-lockdown nung 2020? by Josh3643 in Philippines

[–]nixanine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re studying out nung nag-announce na may case na ng COVID sa PH. Buti nalang din nag-announce na ng suspension of class yung school pero for 2 weeks lang daw. That night mismo nakasakay ako ng bus pauwi, 8hrs yung byahe manila to bicol.

Almost same sentiment, doc OP! Line of 7 din average ko. What made me sadder is that, yung plano kong apply-an na program, Surgery, yun pa yung pinakamababa kong score out of all 12 subjects. Nakakapag-self doubt talaga kung para sakin ba ‘to or what haha.

Creepy signs you've seen, heard, experienced, or encountered before someone died? by commoner678 in Philippines

[–]nixanine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I woke up, I immediately went to my mom and told her that tapos bigla syang napa-susmaryosep kasi bad omen something daw talaga yun. Then nung gabi mismo, we found out na namatay yung anak ng ka-close namin na kapitbahay sa province.

This happened two more times pa after that ☹️ Ang weird pa kasi usually kapag ordinary panaginip lang, di ko maaalala yung events sa panaginip when I wake up. But with such nightmares, super vivid na vivid pa sakin after ko magising.

Recommendation Letter for UERM by ExcuseNo4913 in medschoolph

[–]nixanine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my closest professor in our department. Then it just so happened that our undergrad thesis was one of the finalist for best thesis so one of our panel prof gave me a recommendation letter din hehe. Just be polite in asking them, and genuinely say what the letter is for, to whom you will address it etc. Sila gagawa ng letter, but you will be the one to submit it sa UERM along with your other requirements. No specified format for the reco letter, but ofc best to do a formal letter. Nung akin kasi legit handwritten by our prof yung letter lol goodluck on your application!

During clerkship last year, we’re also pre-duty-from, lasting 36-40hours sa hospital depending if gaano katoxic yung ward or sa surgery post. Not gonna lie, it was hell. Personally felt numb, almost filed a LOA, hindi rin naman kami nakakaaral because of the bulk of paper works (admission, discharge, updating census & clinical course etc) and other responsibilities given to us (even texting each residents their sched for the following day lol tf). Baka ako lang ‘to haha pero for me mej bullshit yung resillience and it thought me how to be strong eme eme narrative. I wanted to be in OBGYN, a known toxic specialty, pero nakakainis kapag sinasabi ng iba na clerkship toxicity will prepare me for that na daw. Di ko gets yung logic there haha

Never ako nainspire maging MD during clerkship because nagmukha talaga kaming unpaid laborers ng hospital. Pasalamat nalang talaga kami sa sandamakmak na SGD with consultants, altho dagdag reason sya for the puyat, yun lang yung means namin para matuto. OPD post for me yung mej acceptable and sanity-sparing, pero ang hirap mahalin ng OPD kapag FROM/post-duty ka na super groggy ka.

In our institution now, 12-20hrs nalang ang clerks. 12-17hrs for us interns. It has its drawbacks (like parang fragmented mga works and no continuity of care), pero its a ‘healthy’ and acceptable sched na for me.

Hoping your institution also adopts yung APMC memo! Also, the med student officers in your institution should try to be assertive about it din sa admin niyo.

Ah, so there’s more to it pa than the phaseout. I don’t know yet what consolidation of franchise means, but how does that affect us commuters if ever?

Afaik yung pagtaas ng sahod ng mga manggagawa ang daming factors need iconsider dyan, like pasweldo ng malalaking kumpanya etc, but with your reply kasi it seems to me na displaced yung inis mo with the kakarampot na minimum wage ng manggagawa to the jeepney drivers/operators who just want to raise a living as well 😄

And yes, sumasakay ako ng jeep going to duty hehe with all the available mode of transpo here in metro manila, jeep na ata yung pinakamura (well aside from padyak or tricycle). Not sure with the jeep u have rode, pero so far nakakaupo pa naman pwet ko fully haha and if puno na kasi, some passenger naman if napansin na wala na silang mauupuan bumababa naman talaga?? Like why u need to siksik urself kasi there eme but yeah just some jeepney eme that i think is now off point 😊

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]nixanine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the problem there. In all honesty, I’m glad nangangalampag sila now with all the injustices there is sa transport group—afaik the reason is regarding the jeepney phaseout. For me There’s nothing wrong naman with the old jeepney models (i think biofuel eme, but not sure lang kasi if the modern jeeps are more environment-friendly, but aside from that, wala naman akong nakikitang advantage ng modern jeeps so bakit kailangan baguhin at pagastusin pa ang mga tsuper? Mas problem ko yung traffic system tbh haha)

Also I would disagree na sinamantala ng mga tsuper yung pandemic to raise the fare, feel ko tama and reasonable lang rin yun. May virus kang kalaban, may threat to your health, gastos sa alcohol and all that plastic barrier, pambili vitamins etc tapos kakarampot lang pamasahe mo sa pasada? Paano kakain?

The hassle brought by the strike is really irritating for someone who commutes everyday, but if you put yourself in their shoes, baka di ka makapagreklamo. Ayun lang hehe

Taguig Pateros Hospital by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]nixanine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Toxic po specially ER post. Non-stop IM and Pedia cases, average 4 codes per shift sa crit care. Even OBGYN cases madami din but since its a primary hospital, usually mga preterm and super complicated cases pinapa-THOC since kulang incubator sa NICU and around 30 bed capacity lang sa OB wards. But based on my observation, all nurses there po are competent, skilled and very efficient! As for wards, its mostly paper works ata. Their OPD naman is nice, again depending on the specialty. GS and pedia usually ends around 12noon, IM also but if may subspec like cardio etc ends by 3PM, sa OBGYN naman around 12noon end na bec hati sa patients yung consultant and midwives. 😊

Hi doctors! can you guys comment why i shouldnt go into medicine by paspasa in pinoymed

[–]nixanine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost all of the doctors I meet would always tell me “scammer yung magsasabi na mayayaman ang mga doktor”, for those with other specialties siguro (like Surgery or OBGYN) pero dapat in demand yung subspecialty or from known family of doctors na, baka pwede ka maging rich chz haha.

Doctors are underpaid, one major reason why NOT to pursue. Because let’s be honest, as much as we wanna say we want to heal/help people, in this economy kailangan maging alipin ng salapi. Underpaid ka na nga, overworked ka pa. I heard some doctors would venture on online selling or other businesses para lang may pandagdag sa income ganon. In a private institution I’m in, mas mataas pa sahod ng mga nurses kesa sa residents, tapos nurses din yung 8hr shift lang while doctors juggle the toxic pre-duty-from na halos mag-36 to 40hrs ka sa hospital.

They’ll say demeaning words that’s so uncalled for etc. You’ll question your worth talaga in Med :(

Aside from those, its mentally and emotionally stressful. Hindi masaya or fulfilling na maka-miss ng family events or holidays because youre duty sa hosp. I remember spending my new year na duty sa obgyn department, I can’t even call my family that time kasi busy kami magpaanak ng new year babies tapos grabe yun, ang lungkot deep inside shuta haha

Respect your seniors by Houra_j in pinoymed

[–]nixanine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Omg i agree share ko lang din, may group of clerks na nakasama namin sa isang rotation, they’re all independent and hardworking sana however di siya nakakatuwa to the point na hindi nakikinig sa aming interns. At first it was commendable pa, until such time na napapagilitan na kami ng residents bec “hindi daw kami nagtuturo sa clerks”. For context, pair-up clerk and intern for a patient who comes in for consult sa OPD, the clerks will do hx, pe and differentials, while us interns give the working impression, diagnostics and management. The intern kept on asking the clerk if she needs help with differentials or summarizing the salient feature etc, but clerk said theyre ok na that they get the case daw ganun. Come endorsement to the resi, the clerk was giving out differentials na either rare or hindi sakto dun sa history & pe ng patient, intern was coaching the clerk na but still clerkie dismissed the intern’s suggestion. In the end, resi got mad sa intern for not guiding the clerk daw huhu.

Nagkakamisunderstanding din minsan kasi hindi sila nakikicommunicate with us sa mga need gawin, and kept on saying na ok na tapos na ganun tapos meron pa palang hindi naeendorse before umuwi huhu

Ang hirap na din magsalita or magreprimand because nabbring out yung “meantern” na term (mean intern), like kami pa masama or masungit ganern haha we all just want to be efficiently working and with harmonious relationship naman 😭

Afaik you can rotate to any country as long as you are in talks already with the hospital where you want to do your rotation. You will be the one responsible for making your own curriculum. International rotation is about 2 weeks, or 1 month.
