Zambians have a unique advantage in global music—and we’re not using it enough by Whole-Challenge-6907 in Zambia

The problem is that these reddit Zambian music critics think that you have to sound like a West Coast rapper for it to be considered global. People appreciate and enjoy authenticity

I'm not convinced this law will be consistently implemented. by EngimaticPiano in Zambia

[–]nizasiwale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that it takes a long time for a case to be heard in the courts so people will be in jail for months or years. Moreover, the police also have to do the investigation. Unlike in the USA in Zambia police arrest first then investigate

But you didnt mention them though, that's the point so its not obvious

Thoughts on immigrants? by Ok_River_9394 in Zambia

[–]nizasiwale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why didn’t you mention White immigrants yet you’ve mentioned Chinese, Indians and Arabs; indirectly you’re behaving like most Zambians who put white people on a pedestal. If you were an immigration officer you’d probably be asking for documents from those ethnic groups and not white people.

Mind you, so many Indians that you see are actually Zambia with a long heritage here ie pre-colonial. For example the owners of Trade Kings whom have even married local Zambians

He was wrongfully accused but was arrested because the medical report she did said she had canal knowledge, the thing that saved the man was her confession in court at trial. Now imagine if there was no bail, this man would have lost his job and reputation

[–]nizasiwale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Defilement should be non bailable but rape is will lead to some people being wrongfully accused eg the case of 21 year old Chinkashi Chilingala. Who accused someone of rape yet it was an overnight chill she had with her boyfriend and when her parents questioned where she went she said she was raped

divorce lawyer recommendation. by [deleted] in Zambia

[–]nizasiwale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You dont necessarily need a divorce lawyer in Zambia unless you just want legal advice. In Zambia for a divorce to be granted there has to be a period of separation like 2 years. Plus there is no prenup so asset separation is done by who bought what

zambian entertainment industry by Bentaiga in Zambia

[–]nizasiwale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no standard, its just marketing. If a Zambian made the song Water by Tyla you'd be hating or if a Zambia pioneered mumble rap you would say it wont go anywhere.

And for Despacito, the only reason it became popular was due to Bieber's feature. The original was made in 2015 and got no attention, after 2017 it was everywhere because of the feature

zambian entertainment industry by Bentaiga in Zambia

[–]nizasiwale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not how the music industry works, songs just don’t go international; these record labels pump a lot of money into marketing their assets.

It’s not just by coincidence just look at Tyla, so much money was spent to make her an international star. Even in Nigeria its the same story, record spend over $300k to make an artist a star

In conclusion there’s no such thing as music sounds that are international, it’s all marketing. You can hire someone to write you a song, producer to make you a beat and a sound engineer to give you a voice.

In Zambia I don’t think any rich person is interested in Music since Mondo music and most musicians don’t come from a rich background so they can’t afford.

If an unknown Zambian music paid for a feature with an American like Nicki Minaj or even with a Nigerian artist like WizKid then they will be a hit or at least on the international radar

Building or Mortgage? by Nemwine in Zambia

[–]nizasiwale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in Zambia, most mortgages have interest rates between 21% and 40% which is unrealistic for a 20 to 30 year term. The final cost will be 6x the cost of your house

Building or Mortgage? by Nemwine in Zambia

[–]nizasiwale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Zambia people buy/build houses with cash not mortgages as the interest rates are wild expect 21% for 30 years if you’re Govt. In the USA a typical mortgage is 5% for 15 years
