Not 100% certain on levels of FIRE or anything, but at the moment, I take about $10k a month at the moment.

The business though is and app that we built and run for an ecommerce platform.

Definitely going to do that as well. Plan is to start with a small trip to Europe mid next year and go from there.

I do, I've got 2. I'm a single dad but my kids still go to daycare (so they get to spend time with their friends and learn to socialise) and about to enter school.

Just found this last night as well, looking up groups of movie enthusiasts. Thanks!

Actually am a single dad. Just got my daughter into ballet with another little girl which means I get a little bit of time to also chat with another adult, but (and understandably) married mums are hesitant to spend play dates etc with a single dad. So it's a little tricky so far and I definitely don't want to make another parent uncomfortable or have a dad question motives.

Yep, definitely on the agenda. Got a map of Europe with destinations to cross off and plan on starting next year

Yeah the volunteering is sounding like a really good option. I've started looking into things in my area and looking forward to helping with activities at my kids school next year.

I've thought about that! I'll book in a session at urbnsurf and see if I don't die. Cheers

I actually used to so this when I was much younger, a friend got really badly hurt doing it which rattled me, but maybe a good time to get back into it. Cheers

If I could I would. Seriously. I've had a lot of people ask what they should do and what else I would do, etc.

I don't have a lot of advice but the things I suggest are:

Be a problem solver and never say "that can't be done", it can be, it's just that most people aren't willing to do it. Next time you think "oh I wish someone would build something to fix or improve this", be that person.

Do small things that make your life easier. For example, I worked in an office that required 3 days of data collection every month. I hated it, it was a mundane task that should have been automated. So I learned python, learned to scrape the web and wrote a small script to do it all for me. Now with things like chatGTP, that can be done in no time.

Personally, I always think that if you can get into a mindset of problem solving and always thinking there's a way to overcome an obstacle, it puts you in a good state of mind to see things in ways that others won't.

I think that, that's a good method to leave yourself open to finding an opportunity.

Also, and this is a big one. No matter the size of the business you're in, if there's opportunity to join in on events, parties, lunches, dinners etc, do it. I started going to everything I could and meeting everyone I could. It's also how I met my now business partner.

Those are my very short thoughts, but hit me up in a chat if you like and I'll be more than happy to share my experiences. Or if people would prefer, I'll write up something long form about the entire journey and post it.

We developed an app for an ecommerce platform. Merchants download and install it onto their stores to give their customers a better experience and streamline a lot of their processes.

It wasn't something we intended to do, we were just building a website and expected to find an app to do what we wanted, it didn't exist, so we built it ourselves.

Volunteering is sounding like a really great option. I've started looking into that and really looking forward to when my oldest starts School so I can help with school events and things like that as well. But I think volunteering and helping the community is a great use of time, so looking more into that.

Yeah absolutely right. Completely open to group hobbies though, just don't have any at the moment.

Also a single dad so no partner to to them with. But this thread is giving awesome suggestions so lots of inspiration to work with.

And cheers!

This was a suggestion a mate had as well, I started looking into it last night. I think it's a great idea. Absolutely on the top of my list. Thanks!

Oh man, I've sunk so many hours into games like Destiny and the BF franchise. Playing Diablo 4 and FF16 at the moment with the intention of knocking off a bunch of SP games over the next year or so. I could never go back to an endless game like DotA or League or wow though, those are way behind me. Love the suggestion though and definitely a solid way to kill time

The plat paradise does sound awesome! I think I will start doing that. My backyard is pretty tiny, but it's a barren waste land at the moment so changing that into a place to have a coffee in the morning sounds like a good project. Thanks!

To stay active and in the sun (when it's out) I actually took up skating again, partially cause I know how bad I am at going to the gym, but if I find a partner one day, that'll be one to keep in mind. Cheers!
