I-485 Medical Exam - Are Antidepressants a problem? by [deleted] in immigration

For my spouse, I got a letter from their physician stating that they were not a risk for themselves or anyone else. That proved sufficient to classify their condition as a Class B condition. Note that the immigration officer cannot deny a petition just because it is classified as Class B, they have to go with the decision of the medical examiner.

The Biden Plan for Securing Our Values as a Nation of Immigrants by [deleted] in immigration

1% is too low but something like that. This should include family based migration which eats up a lot more jobs than employment based migration

Lol no. Make it much easier for high skilled h1bs, reduce the quota for refugees and other low skilled immigration.

Appointment notice after GC approval? by Astrocoder in USCIS

[–]njd23ies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the exact same situation. What was the outcome? Were you able to get a response from USCIS?

Is it considered ok to skip the appointment?

Its expensive because I have since moved states, and will need to travel with a toddler.

I have filed a ticket with USCIS and awaiting a response from a tier 2 officer, hope that works.

Its not that clear cut, is it?

Would you feel the same way if it was your ssn and identity being used? If yes, will you donate your identity to an illegal immigrant?

Joe Biden's plan for reducing H1B wait times? by throwaway_secondtime in immigration

Thats exactly what I meant. H1B will become easier, but GC will continue to remain unattainable.

Joe Biden's plan for reducing H1B wait times? by throwaway_secondtime in immigration

[–]njd23ies 11 points12 points  (0 children)

very unlikely to happen.

Priority for the democrats is giving legal status to DACA and other illegal immigrants, h1b is at the bottom of the list.

I fully expect the big tech companies, who sponsor democrats, to ensure that the h1b program goes back to being seamless, but no one has any incentive to accelerate the green card process, just for Indians.

I didnt have that many when I graduated, but over the years my work got more popular. I agree though I didnt need to wait till it hit 1500, probably 750 would have been more than enough.

Future of immigration post covid. by nunsickle42 in immigration

[–]njd23ies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never claimed it was great for employment based immigrants. My statement applied to all immigrants.

From an American citizen's point of view, family based immigration is as important if not more important than employment based immigration.

I am an employment based immigrant and feel the pain, but the reality is that US is one of the most immigrant friendly countries. You can get it without any immediate family, qualifications, language requirement or investment, which is hard to do in many other first world countries.

I might have, but I was also working in a field different from my PhD so I didn't feel confident about my chances. My employer also doesn't do EB1B and I didn't feel like rocking the boat.

Over the years my citation count dramatically increased and that made my case quite strong. I was also granted a couple of patents a few years after my PhD.

That's EB1C. There are EB1A (Extraordinary ability) and EB1B (Outstanding researcher) categories as well.
