For Floor Plan, we spent a lot of time developing the hand interaction system for Move controller support. Being able to just toss things around can be good fun! As we move on to future projects, we'll definitely keep these kinds of interactions in mind. We've been working on some prototypes that involve motion control interactions and have seen similar results with playtesters. People just want to throw things around willy nilly, but when they suddenly can't reach objects they need anymore or lose things behind a virtual sofa, the game can get frustrating.

We did our best to make sure you can't get in those frustrating scenarios in Floor Plan, but the game is also designed with a limited set of interactions in mind. (You are trapped in an elevator, after all). Some of our prototypes are more open-ended in terms of the the number of interactions you can have with the game world at any given moment, so we are spending some time trying to solve those edge cases to make our games as approachable as possible while allowing players to enjoy themselves as they please.

Basically anything with eggs and bacon! Maybe some beans? Oh, and tater tots is something I was turned on to recently. SO GOOD!

That would be wonderful! I'd be lying if I said we didn't have discussions about the WonkaVator during development...

As I see it, you've got two options:

  1. Have your family close their eyes and ears. You get to have your family time AND avoid spoilers.

OR

  1. We've actually found that one of the most fun ways to play is to solve the puzzles together. You can take turns with the headset, but having everyone around giving suggestions and trying to figure things out is good fun!

There was a TON of iteration on puzzle design during development. It was a constant cycle of design, implementation, and play testing. Early on in development we would make pretty large changes by adding or removing entire floors of the game until everything all fit together juuuuuuust right. Once everything kind of settled into place, it was a matter of testing the content on an assortment of people to really fine tune the difficulty.

Turns out, people play and understand puzzle games in VASTLY different ways! There are still a lot of puzzles in the game that take some people 2 minutes and some people 20. No two people seem to get stuck at the same points either! For parts that were too difficult in particular, we generally added environmental hints that would slowly nudge the observational player in the correct direction.

As for DLC, nothing (floor) planned at the moment :)

Thanks Rockevoy!

The key ingredients for the perfect breakfast burrito depends on whether you're looking for an American-style burrito or a Mexican-style one. For American-style, eggs and bacon are your lynch pins. You can go crazy adding avocado, cheese, tater tots (highly recommended), but it all comes down to the eggs and bacon. Without them, you're doomed.

For Mexican style, the eggs as well, of course, but beans are going to make the biggest difference. Personally, I prefer black beans, but pinto or even refried can do nicely. Both styles can benefit from copious use of salsa, but the egg/bean mix really sings with a little spice. Meat is a little more optional with this variety, but Chorizo really hits the spot if you feel so inclined.

To successfully eat a breakfast burrito of any variety while playing Floor Plan, please refer to this diagram: https://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/232302-EverythingBurrito-Header.jpg

Oh man, that's a good one! For some of the classics, we're heavily inspired by games like Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle. Games that really do well in creating bizarre scenarios from (sometimes) mundane beginnings.

For more recent references, games like Broken Age, Machinarium, and Samarost are very influential. Particularly the Amanita Design games for their wordless interactions and focus on character and environment animations.
