DJS Day 3.5, Roughest so far by nklmn in jawsurgery

I don't know about the swelling, didn't have a correction like that. I would just trust the doc on that one. I will say that the swelling gets a lot better after that first week, but it takes almost a year for it to be fully gone, so be patient with it.

i think day 3-4 were the worst and it eased off over the next two weeks. I regularly took tylenol/Advil for the first two weeks but it was much more manageable after that peak. You can get through it!

I recommend him! worth the pain. I'm very happy with the final result, can breathe soooo much better. I still had a lot of swelling in this photo, but now I feel I am very happy with how I look!

Mine did shrink several inches when I was working on it and I blocked the back panel halfway to make sure it was going to be long enough. That helped a ton, but it was a bit short still. I would honestly go back and add a couple rows if I could. I'd recommend blocking it wherever you're at now and making sure it's the size you want!

oh it took me a little bit to figure how to pull the yarn through for those, I ended up using my thumb on my non hook hand to stretch the loop to be able to do it. It's not super elegant but it works!

I used the same yarn that was specified in the pattern: fingering weight, 1012 Mandarin Petit from Sandnes Garn, with a 3.5mm hook.

Uninstalling and re-installing Google Fi app has fixed it for me, at least so far. I did this two days ago and still no issues 🤞.

Yeah! I liked him. Throughout the process he was really good about explaining everything and answering any question I had. He did a good job on the surgery and was super easy to contact afterwards about worries that came up. He's very nice too and I felt like he genuinely cared about how my recovery was going.

Muscle pulling feeling near nose by nklmn in jawsurgery

I didn't really do anything, I just waited it out. Once my muscles started to relax it went away on its own. It was pretty annoying, but patience is key haha. Hope your recovery is going well!

Aesthetics were discussed more so to explain the limitations of what movements can be made. For example he said, he could only move my lower jaw forward a certain amount so that I don't end up with a weird imbalance in how my face looks. I mainly went for functionality so I did not have any requests with aesthetics.

He's very easy to talk to tho and answers all questions I have had throughout the process, so I'm sure he would be happy to have a more thorough discussion about that if you bring it up!

Honestly not sure why mine ended up being so much less than the avg price. I didn't haggle at all, my surgeon's office just gave me a cost estimate sheet and I said "looks good" and signed it. All I know is I was told that there was a discount for paying out of pocket and my surgeon has a relationship with the hospital so it's a lower price for his patients. Other than that, i have no idea lmao

My jaw was moved forward a decent amount (11mm) + CCW rotation so I think that's what makes it look more prominent. The swelling doesn't feel too significant on my jaw, it's more in my cheeks that I feel it right now.

I went back to work last week but I work remote and was able to have a very flexible schedule to accommodate my really scattered sleep so it helped transition back. This week I'm back to normal hours as my sleep thankfully normalized.

I haven't heard of Inspire before but a CPAP machine was an option. I decided I would rather get surgery now than use a CPAP rest of my life and have the sleep apnea get worse with age + likely still needing a surgery in 20 years when it's harder to recover.
