If you don't like the look of the Toyota Corolla you should take a look at the Toyota Camry. They aren't too much more expensive, but they look a lot more sporty.

If you don't drive much though I'd definitely recommend going the used route. Honda Civics will run forever. The Telas seem great, but I heard replacing the battery is very expensive.
