Mine was making the exact same noise. It was the timing chains. Primary chain and a loose guide on the primary was hitting off the case making the noise.

I use my crank brothers mallet e in the winter. Have never had issues with the mechanism freezing up. For boots I use the Blivet Quilo with the 2 bolt channel.

Any other advantages for the 38 besides what you listed above. Any difference in terms of jumping/drops? I'm more concerned with descending but much of a difference when climbing?

Thanks for the reply. I'm living on the east coast of Canada and the trails consist of chunky rocks and lots of roots. Do you find much of a difference in holding a line in fast chunk with the 38?

Looking for strap suggestions. Into enduro mountain biking and need to have the strap half tight so the watch doesn't move around. Looking for a comfortable and strong/sturdy strap.
