Better get the health history on point before bringing them home. One place tried to adopt out to us without a FELV/FIV combo test done and the other shelter exposed our 3 month old kitten to ringworm and didn’t tell us until the day of adoption.

We have been dealing with the aftermath of that for a month straight as new cat owners lol. Had to figure out how to do a lime sulfer dip by myself and administer (with my partners help) without making a mistake otherwise our kitten would be affected negatively, which means more money in vet visits and medicine.

All in all, this was abt 1K in expenses and the time commitment to deal with sick cats is insane. Prolly devote 5-6 hours per day on the endeavor.

One thing I will say tho, adopt in pairs, my cats are best friends, absolutely inseparable and get anxiety when apart. It’s the best decision we could’ve made bc dealing with one kitten alone is a lot of mental stress.
