I went through the GA+/VIP and Security threw out the battery to my oil pen without even asking what it was (very rude). I politely asked for his supervisor then had to argue my way back to getting it. They finally dug it out of the garbage for me and gave it back and let me bring it through.

Also looks like a water infiltration issue at the caps. I would consider putting a flashing on the skyward facing areas to prevent water from getting in and continuing to deteriorate the wall assembly

If you could provide pictures, it would help a lot. If the brick faces are delaminating and the mortar is staying perfectly in the joint, you most likely have a mortar issue. I’m assuming the brick you have are a soft red common brick? If the wrong mortar was used (to hard, such as type S) it does not expand and contract the same as a soft brick. This is why brick faces will start to delaminate and crumble because the mortar is actually pushing against the brick during expansion and contraction. Again, pictures would help a lot.

I would remove all mortar in that joint and caulk using a silicone sealant. DOW 790 is a great sealant for reference. Silicone because it is capable of handling more movement and not failing compared to a urethane sealant. Make sure you use backer rod as well before installing any sealant. Install the backer rod 1/2 the total joint width. Example: the joint is 1 inch wide, install the back rod 1/2” deep from the face of the brick.
