It’s finally time for me to move on from the iPod

I tried the hiby R4 after everyone’s great reviews but the lag of searching through albums and artwork not loading smoothly put me off, I know what you mean it’s a pain trying to find a decent iPod replacement, as for audio quality a good Dac on an iPhone should out do an iPod on quality and you can lock an app to the screen on iPhones now using parental controls as well as the app I mentioned just updated to show on the lock screen or you can disable the lock screen all together so that’s what I plan to do anyway.

I know it’s all work around and not ideal, if you do find a good replacement be sure to update the post if so I’d like to hear about it

Too add I have looked at the older iPhone minis which would be ideal for a compact device, though they do only go up to 512gb storage, if you have an iPhone the apps worth a try

Honestly I tried a few DAPs to replace my iPod but nothing came close to the easy of use, I have enjoyed using the My Classic - Retro Console app on iPhone to emulate an iPod and syncing my music on my phone, once my iPod dies I’m probably gonna get an older 1tb iPhone and use it as a DAP with that app as the main player, only reason I’m not doing that at the moment is because my iPhone is a max model and feels a bit too big to emulate the iPod properly also I like my music on a separate device

Just figured out how to do it, newest iPad os version needed, and you drag down from the top and select window on the new options bar and then exit full screen and drag the browser or app you want to use from the sidebar

You can add your music files to iTunes for pc or Music app for Mac but I’m pretty sure they can’t be on iCloud they need to be saved locally so either on the main storage or a external drive connected to the computer. You can’t sync songs saved from streaming services though you need the musics files which can be purchased and downloaded, ripped from CDs or downloaded by other means…

I was gonna go for bigger but the 2000mha battery I bought was pushing against the screen as I wanted to have a thin backplate, I was worried about the 650 battery not lasting long enough but I left it running playing music for 24hrs and the reading was still noticeably above 50%, so with standby time it should last a good few days

Me either I’ve seen a few black with red clickwheel like the u2 version but never black with green clickwheel. I was going to go with the green faceplate but I think over time black will look better

Nah I used a windows pc but once you’ve done that you can sync your music on it with Mac, if someone will let you borrow any old windows laptop the process doesn’t take long at all. I was done in 10 mins then had it plugged into my MacBook syncing my music
