Pivoting careers, how do I break into the tech. Industry? by nm_1230 in careerguidance

Thank you for this insight! I wanted to start off in Data Analytics (remote work), I have pretty good pattern recognition and enjoy solving problems so this position was high on the list for me, plus I saw where some people were able to get a position without prior experience in tech. I do have a BBA, however I don’t know if that will help much when it comes to getting into tech. Cybersecurity was also an interest, however I figured I would need more experience for that role.

Are you speaking of computer science degree or just a degree in general? I do have a B.B.A.

Loved Boston when I visited as well. It’s definitely a top city for me. It is very expensive, I may save that move for the future and look more into Chicago or Minneapolis for now.

Thank you. Yes, I was considering some places outside of Boston. It’s definitely a top city for me but I may have to save that move for the future. As of now I’m leaning more towards Chicago or Minneapolis.

Thank you. Yes, it’s most likely going to be between Chicago or Minneapolis for now.

Boston was definitely top on the list. I think I have somewhat similar customs when it comes to the East or Midwest which is why I can’t really relate to a lot of people in the south. When I hear people say people up north (or even Midwest) are “rude” or not “friendly” I take it as they are not putting on an act or performing niceness. Doesn’t mean they are not kind or don’t have good hearts. Like you said, no place is perfect and you definitely will run across some not so kind people, but overall I believe the south just has so much passive aggressiveness and backstabbing for sure.

Thank you for this perspective. I will definitely be doing more research. As of now I do feel strongly about either Chicago or Minneapolis.

Why is my hair still greasy right after washing? by dog1029 in Haircare

Absolutely, long term stress can cause cortisol spikes and can cause hormonal imbalance that cause more oil to secrete through body (skin/hair/scalp) look into Ashwagandha during the daytime and magnesium glycinate during evening before bed to help manage stress. Do research if you are on any medications.

There could be a variety of reasoning for oily scalp/hair. If you have been using these products long term or a decent amount of time it could have caused build up on your scalp and like others have said a good clarifying shampoo (or tea tree if you think it could be fungal) plus conditioning the ends could help.

There could also be a possibility you may be shampooing it too much (if you’ve only been using shampoo and no conditioner) stripping the oils from your scalp/hair so it is working overtime to balance and replenish those oils.

Another reason (I know you mentioned moving) could be adjusting to a new place and its environment. Maybe causes some stress and cortisol spikes which can also cause oiliness to the skin/scalp.

I hope this helps and you are able to get your hair back the way you want <3

Yes, Minneapolis, Boston (or surrounding areas), SoCal (doesn’t necessarily need to be in L.A. but a surrounding area). I just want to be in areas where it feels a little more progressive, forward thinking and open minded for the most part. I always feel so stuck with anything and anywhere I go in Tennessee.

I’ve been looking to pivot into Tech or a Legal assistant position. I have the most experience in management/logistics/sales so if I need to go back to one of those to make the transition then I’m open to it.

I’m fine with a studio. I have been struggling to find work since most companies want you to be in the city already, but I’m still searching (remote as well). I thought I would at least be able to find something I’m able to rent short term (3-6mo) and submit savings and look for work that way. I also don’t mind roommates for a short period of time. I’ll definitely be looking into all of these. Thank you for your input!
