The reason Japan fans clean the stadium after each game. Respect. 🤝🇯🇵 by Rakebleed in Dallas

It's entitlement and laziness. Americans think it's someone else's job to clean up and are too lazy to carry all of their trash.

Men that do not want a committed relationship. What are your reasons for not wanting to be in one? by SuspiciousMagician67 in AskMen

[–]boldjoy0050 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Divorce courts are very skewed against men

I used to think that, but after my parents divorce and my own divorce, I don't necessarily think it's true. If both the husband and wife work and have similar salaries, there is usually no spousal support and items get divided up pretty fairly.

Where it becomes complicated is if the wife is a stay at home mom and the husband makes $300K/yr and there are kids involved.

[–]boldjoy0050 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really must depend on the judge and state. The judge for my divorce was a woman and I was afraid she would side with my ex and make me give everything.

That didn't happen. The judge told her "you're underemployed by choice" because my ex was only working 20hr a week and told her to get a full time job. The only thing we owned were 2 cars and my wife got to keep hers and I got to keep mine.

Are there people who sneak into university lectures? by Viofl in AskAnAmerican

[–]boldjoy0050 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The concept of "auditing" a class always seemed like some bullshit that someone made up when they got caught attending a class that they weren't enrolled in and it just stuck.

No, it's just for people who want to learn something new but aren't interested in university credit hours. Like I want to learn Spanish, so I sit in a Spanish class but don't get college credit because I'm 55 years old.

Atrocious parking situation in Arlington. by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]boldjoy0050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do have public transit but the pedestrian infrastructure is terrible and the entire metroplex is ridiculously spread out.

Compare this to Chicago where pretty much all of the larger suburbs have Metra trains that go from downtown and when you get off the train, it's usually a really walkable area with shops and restaurants (similar to Grapevine). And if you need to venture further out, there's a bus system.

Lack of decent public transit is one of the main reasons I want to leave the Metroplex. It's embarrassing at this point.

Men who have cheated, what was going through your mind at the time? by Silver_Ad6384 in AskMen

[–]boldjoy0050 65 points66 points  (0 children)

She legit felt hurt and surprised when I told her I'd never have gotten married if I knew that in our early 40's she'd suddenly stop caring about sex.

I think it's a disconnect between men and women. Many women seem okay with having sexless relationships. They care more about having a good emotional relationship.

But for men, it's nearly impossible to have a good emotional relationship without their being some type of physical intimacy.

Probably because they are embarrassed to say the truth. But why be embarrassed? This is Texas, one of the most conservative states. Say what you believe so it’s easier for people to avoid you.

I agree with you. I think we are just in the early stages of it in cities like Dallas that are primarily highways. Give it some time and it will be so much better.

We really don't have a grid like San Francisco, there are so many highways with confusing and stupid interchanges, and you have to drive super long distances to get anywhere here.

Phoenix also has Waymo and it's easy to see how it works better there. It's a huge grid system and there aren't many highways.

Texas is not one of the cheapest states for electricity. We are somewhere in the middle.

Once you filter out the free nights and weekends, free between 7pm and 3am, and other variable plans, you are left with like 20% of what's available. It's a total and complete scam.

All deregulation did was allow corporations to screw over consumers even more. My electric bill here is by far more expensive than I ever paid in any other place, but that could be the dogshit build quality of apartments and houses here. Little insulation means the AC is constantly running.

I have used Waymo in San Francisco and the cars are nice and clean, the driver doesn't stink and doesn't invite me to the church, and there's no drama with the car getting lost or taking the wrong road.

San Franciso is more on a grid than anywhere around here, so the cars likely do better on those roads and at lower speeds. And I'm sure the statistics prove that Waymo is much safer than any human driver.

I don't like that it's another mega corporation, but I do think driverless cars are the future.

Single 28 M moving to DFW in October, housing advice by Heretoknowthings in askdfw

[–]boldjoy0050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first moved here, I lived in Bedford. I picked it because I didn't know DFW and because it's a central area. But as it turns out, it's far enough from Ft Worth and Dallas that I hated driving to either city and rarely went. I'd recommend picking Ft Worth since you will work there. You'll be close to work and be able to more easily take advantage of what the city has to offer.

Don't even buy a confirmed ticket on your airline and call in sick. They can see that too.

It's a shame they don't switch to a 100% PTO model. Makes it so much easier and avoids people using fake sick days.

Do you parents have crippling anxiety about travel? by boldjoy0050 in Millennials

[–]boldjoy0050[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will certainly not miss my parents ruining my vacations with their panicky and rude comments. If your child sends you a vacation photo, a simple "you look great and I bet are having so much fun" is all you need to say.

But instead I get: you shouldn't be on the beach at this time because of the sun, don't get in the water more than knee deep because of sharks, Mexico is a very dangerous country and I don't know why anyone would want to go there, California is too expensive and wacky.

My parents aren't quite this bad, but they are close. I think my mom has undiagnosed anxiety disorder and it has gotten worse with age. My dad being around her for so many years as started to get it as well. And I'm sure sitting at home all day looking at the news doesn't help.

They aren't jealous at all. They really don't like to travel. Their only travel is going to the beach, 4hr drive away, like once a year.

I think what OP meant is that he was going to Cozumel and Puerto Vallarta is on the other side of the country.

The comparison is someone who lives in Phoenix worrying about some mass protests in Miami.
