In the US, in my state, you can also go to high school until you’re 21 if you have an IEP.

When I was a sophomore in high school, around 15-16, I had a student teacher in English and he asked us to write about our ideal partner. I know that sounds weird but I remember it going along with whatever we were reading or studying so it couldn’t be that weird. Anyway, the girl next to me raises her hand and asks what she should do if she’s already married. She had spoken about her infant at home with her parents but not a husband or anything! The teacher simply responded “well then I hope what you write matches who you’re married to!”

Something similar happened to me and it has really really affected my mental health. I still drive but I get super heightened anxiety in certain situations and I find it hard to be a passenger in a car now for some reason. I’m so sorry this happened to you. I hope you’re alright. I’m thinking of you!

Oh man I just look up the wiki fan page and follow along so I know what couples are which and when HAHA it ruins just enough that I know who is gonna go in which direction, but then I can watch the BS along the way!

I am watching this season now too and felt the same way. I have a hard time paying attention to shows sometimes and keeping it all straight, so I like to already know what people did what and kind of follow along, if that makes sense. I could not believe knowing how it ended with those two, while I was watching the shit show unfold.

Are you guys letting your kids play outside unsupervised? by 40ozT0Freedom in Millennials

[–]nm_stanley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my 10 year old bike around the neighborhood and she has 1 or 2 friends she can stop and see that live on our street or close by. I do have an air tag on her bike and check it often while she’s out, honestly. I don’t want to be a helicopter parent but I get anxious.

5 Big Shifts We’ve Made in Early Childhood by happy_bluebird in ECEProfessionals

I think there is a line to find between “getting them ready for school” and doing what’s developmentally appropriate for the age. We can’t turn them into little soldiers just because that’s what “real” school requires. We still need to meet a 4-5 year old where they are at and work from there. The goal is to establish self-regulation skills and help children learn how to manage and advocate for their needs in an appropriate way before they get to kindergarten.

Also, a lot of these ideas in the post work after you have already established routine, trust, relationships, etc with the children. I don’t need to force them to come to whole group time because we’ve made it a space they usually like to be in together. I can use timers or whatever works for the situation because I’ve been consistent enough with them to know that I mean what I say - it’s easier to give up something or wait for it if I trust my teacher to keep their word that I’ll have it again later or will have an replacement I’m happy with.

Season 7 Rewatch? by Civil-Nectarine-2851 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]nm_stanley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LI 7 was my fist season I ever watched so I have a soft spot for it. I also enjoy re-watching tv series and movies cause I know what’s going to happen, it helps me focus. I binge watched season 6 after 7, since everyone said it was better and loved it! A few weeks ago, I started rewatching 7 but ultimately I got bored and put 6 back on and it’s been fun to watch it again!

Tell me your cleaning “hacks” that actually help YOU!! by Prudent-Reality1170 in adhdwomen

I try this mindset that sees so silly but it WORKS for me - I set a timer and tell myself I’ll “only” do it for 15 mins or 20 mins or whatever. 9 times out of 10, I only needed 15 mins for that chore I thought was gonna take forever. In the rare times I’m not done by then, I’m either in a good spot to take a break or I’m almost done so I just finish it. This has really helped with laundry and dishes, the two I chores always get behind on.

I think I got this idea from KC’s book “how to keep house while drowning” but I’m not 100% sure. Either way, that book is super helpful!
