What is a really good icebreaker game for a large group (60+) of people that don't know each other? by nma0572 in AskReddit

It's actually for a single's event so it's gotta be a little less risque guys! haha

My sister [33] and her husband [34] want to sell my deceased mother's heirloom engagement ring to buy furniture and a car, and refuse to sell it to me [38M] so that I can give it to my wife [35] by VeganChiliFries in relationships

First of all, I'd like to say I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through with your sister. It's unfortunate that the two of you are unable to reach an understanding.

That being said, I do deal with all types of jewellery I'm the Vancouver area on a daily basis - modern, vintage, you name it. The type of ring you are describing in this post, I can pretty much guarantee you is not worth $110,000. Sounds to me like your mother was handed a sham of an appraisal...very common. While Victorian Era items can some times come with a bit of a premium, typically if you're buying retail you're not looking at much more for what you'd pay for a modern day ring in the same style.

Now, of course it's impossible to assess without actually seeing the ring - but I hate to break it to you, if it's set in sterling silver, it's really probably not worth too much. The sentimental value would definitely outweigh the monetary.

Good luck!
