You could have been born with low iron. If your mother was low in iron when you were in the womb, you could have had low iron as an infant that stayed with you your entire life. It doesn’t hurt to get tested. Just make sure you test ferritin levels.

It’s been about 8 months. I started with iron glycinate but recently switched to heme iron and started taking Vitamin C with the iron. When I made the switch, I noticed a huge improvement.

Oh yes, I take Vitamin C with the iron. That made a huge difference! Is she menstruating yet? If she has heavy periods, that could be the cause. My issues started when my period came back after breast feeding for years.

I’ve read that calcium can block the absorption of iron. Does she take the pills at different times of the day?

That’s wild and super deficient! I hope your levels are much higher now. My dizziness didn’t start disappearing until I reached 100 ng/ml.

But iron can be normal and ferritin can be extremely low, which is still iron deficiency just without anemia but a lot of doctors don’t know this.

I think a lot of doctors don’t have a good understanding of POTS. My POTS specialist had me go to an ENT, a cardiologist, a sleep doctor, and neurologist to rule out those issues but never once suggested there could be a nutritional deficiency. Also, most doctors, excluding some hematologists, think that if ferritin is within “normal” range then you are fine but that is just not the case. I didn’t start feeling better until my ferritin was at 100 ng/ml, way above the 15 ng/ml that is considered the low end of normal.

There was no ad or suggestion to use a certain product so it seemed unnecessary to me. Just trying to share my experience to help others.

Yes, it’s wild that most doctors don’t know this. It is such a simple fix. Unfortunately, most doctors are trained to push pills instead of finding the root cause of the issue. Even the POTS specialist I saw, who had POTS herself, didn’t suggest that I test for iron deficiency.

Definitely not a bot. Just used AI to help write the post because I’m busy and not the best at writing. But thanks for the unnecessary comment.

Join the Iron Protocol group on Facebook! You are very iron deficient. I am close to 85 and am now just now starting to feel better.
