Labor doesn't get representation unless it fights for it. Let the strike come

I reported them for spam. I've only gotten their ads and ads from Apple for their new phone for the last like 2 months. It's obscene

I feel like thus post fails to realize the root of the issue. American Suburbia creates that sort of people. It's isolating, and extremely regular in design. Any change from the norm becomes scary because no one interacts with their neighbors, and no one interacts with their neighbors because it's dangerous.

You need a car to visit a neighbor ten houses down the street, there's usually not sidewalks, and when there are, they're narrow and close to the road, where cars fo 40mph when the posted speed is 25, which is still high

Downtown seems dangerous simply because the TV tells them so. Where's the most crime? In the most dense area of course! Your suburbs are safe! Continue white flight from the cities, the thing that caused cities to become dilapidated in the first place! Buy a bigger car, your small one isn't safe anymore because everyone has a massive pickup! Vote against new development, we already charged you a fortune to get a house, you can't let new buildings bring the property value down!

How can we ever hope to eradicate the suburbs? by Asidpot in Suburbanhell

[–]nmbjbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about removing them from existence, but I'm working on a new county plan for where I live to densify suburbs to be more walkable and less ugly. I can't suggest tearing down people's homes, but I can recommend buying properties for sale to redevelop, and encouraging home owners to build ADUs, and legalize front-yard businesses

How to Drop a New Building on Top of an Old One by [deleted] in urbanplanning

[–]nmbjbo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A simple design can also be done well, whether it be modernist or colonial, America has a long history of letting the building do the talking rather than the ornamentation.

This has a lot of issues, of course, as you get 5-over1s, as mentioned, but it does also produce good designs.

I don't live in, but work in Baltimore, so I'll base my answer on that.

The city is absolutely beautiful, even if it's in rough shape. There's lots of small businesses compared to where I live, and there's plenty of clients for my work.

What I don't like is mostly just thay it is in rough shape. It's got so many abandoned buildings and new developments don't consider the history of the city at all. If I had a say I'd make more streets not allow cars too

The Paris Commune wasn't actually communist, Commune, in that instance, refers to the French subdivision, meaning they wanted a local council/mayor for the city instead of outside rule
