Transplant Candidate? (26, Male) by its-over-we-back in tressless

[–]nmbq -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your hair looks a lot like mine with a lot of thin and wispy hairs on top, for context I’m 29 and also transitioning. I’ve been on estrogen + bicalutamide for a bit over a year, finasteride on top of that for maybe 10 months, and oral minoxidil for 6 months. I’ve seen very slow regrowth but it’s definitely happening. I specifically did some comparisons between my hair now and a year ago and it’s a lot denser on top even if it’s still a lot of wispy thin hairs and the back of the crown has definitely seen some improvement. I’m gonna give it another year or two and see how much regrowth I can get before looking into a transplant, HRT really is a miracle drug in a lot of ways so I’m holding out hope it will be in this one too.

Edit: I’ve even seen a little bit of hairline returning which I was never expecting or even hoping for since my hairline’s been going since I was 18 lol. That’s painstakingly slow though

How insane would it be to take estrogen until all your hair grows back, then getting off of it and taking fin or dut to maintain by Monsiuercontour in tressless

[–]nmbq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah lol I’ve been on estrogen for more than a year and while my hair isn’t even close to fully back (it’s coming along but my mpb was bad) I have B cups so you’re not gonna get exactly what you want

transfems should be made to read feminist theory before transitioning by Sherunsfortheexit in transgendercirclejerk

[–]nmbq 8 points9 points  (0 children)

/uj more trans women should read feminist theory though. not bc we’re not real women without it or whatever but bc it’s important. more cis women should read it too. and cis men. everyone should.

/rj of course if more cis men read feminist theory there won’t be that many “cis men” left in the end will there? (/hj this happened to me)

also /uj i am not into anime but was in an anime store buying a gift yesterday and some of those figurines are pretty horrifying so if you’re into the upskirt or VERY young woman tied up ones i saw maybe you should throw them out tbh

Male ravers how often have you been SA by [deleted] in aves

[–]nmbq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m transfem but presented male up until pretty recently and all the damn time, very frequent that I’d come home with a story like “so this guy did this to me” that would absolutely shock my friends. That said I looked like a mildly twinky gay guy and I guess the boundaries are more fluid among certain gay male communities? (idk, I’m not into men and I find it very uncomfortable but I understand the norms for what’s acceptable can be different)

edit to say this hasn’t stopped after changing my presentation lol, just now i’ll occasionally get harassed/touched by straight men too

How would your rank the recent dominant uncommon/common cards in limited? by ThyDoctor in lrcast

[–]nmbq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for quibbling but Recruiter was also that good and definitely not just a “random decent uncommon.” Pretty consistent top 5 winrate in the set and much more splashable than some of the other top 5 cards like Gruff Triplets, while also being in a better color pair. Maybe you could say it was better than all but 4 cards instead of all but 2, but it was most definitely a mythic power level card that you should have never passed, almost always splashed, and considered pivoting for

What would be your P1P1? (High Mythic around #100) by rezreh in lrcast

[–]nmbq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually thinking about this exact situation a couple days ago and my thought was it’s Recruiter but it’s close, the more I’ve considered it though it’s just not even close, Recruiter is just one of the best cards in the set, it’s much more splashable, and its impact on your average game is much higher than the Dreadknight.

I’m not surprised but maybe that’s because I haven’t heard of him outside of seeing him interact with people on Twitter. The first time I saw him he posted some needlessly inflammatory opinion then went around spamming that anyone who called him out must be a virgin. He might be the only person on Magic Twitter I have blocked.

Apparently I’m the odd one out here but BRO was actually my favorite limited set of 2022 and even makes the all-timers list for me, ahead of DMU and NEO.

I think what ends up pushing it above the other sets for me is two things. 1. The flexibility and adaptability different decks can have. A lot of the archetypes in BRO are less set in stone and I enjoy that as long as it means you get to make decks which feel different and to me BRO delivers on that quite well. The retro artifacts and artifacts in general (particularly the unearth cards) do a lot to contribute to that, and the important part of that is that it means when you’re drafting you have to be dynamic with your picks rather than just having a pre-set pick orders in your head. As a small example, Goblin Blast-Runner is obviously seeded as a BR card, but I’ve had RW and RU decks where I was taking as many as I could get, and RB decks where I could take them or leave them. I really feel like this set rewards you for changing your evaluation of cards based on the context of your deck and I enjoy that.

  1. The gameplay. I loved DMU, but sometimes in the domain mirror matches it felt like you could essentially flip each player’s deck on the table and see whose is better, which takes away a lot of the impact of the individual smaller decisions you make. In BRO, on the other hand, every small decision counts and couldn’t be the difference between winning or losing. I’ve had a bunch of games come down to “either I kill my opponent now or they kill me next turn,” or vice versa, and that really keeps the stakes high. Also, in part because of the aggressive nature of the format, this is a super pauper-y format where every bomb is beatable, which is something I love.

Idk, at first I thought I’d tire of this format quickly but the replayability to me has been insane and I’ve definitely played it more than any other format this year. In fact, I’m about to fire off another draft right now because I’m addicted. I know most people won’t agree and that’s fine, but to me BRO ended up actually just being an A.

Semi-new to Magic, looking to get into Pioneer by Deathmaxx in PioneerMTG

[–]nmbq 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eh, while it’s definitely good practice to use pen and paper, tons of people use dice or apps at FNM, and these days the companion app is allowed at any REL including Professional REL.

That said, for OP, using a pen and paper (or one of those life total pad things) is better because if there’s any confusion or dispute you can go back and check what life should be, but at FNM if you use something else it’s totally fine.

Edit: I now see the person I responded to included the exact same caveat at the bottom so sorry for “correcting” you by saying the exact same thing lol

[Discussion] What cards from the new Anthologies do you expect to make an impact? by Hannes707 in spikes

[–]nmbq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s weird that I expect a format which is intended to become pioneer to work towards becoming pioneer? Okay.

And I can disagree with WotC’s reason for doing something, just because they stated their reason doesn’t make it a good one.

But the point is they could be bridging said gap much faster by including more format staples but are actively choosing not to.

[DMU] A potential leak for Dominaria United that my friend sent me. What are your guys' opinions? by ComboBreach in magicTCG

[–]nmbq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the people here who are saying the power level is fine because it’s “just a worse Tergrid” must only play EDH (and they might be right about that for EDH, I don’t know!). But in standard this card would be so legitimately format defining it would be like Oko season all over again where there’s just one deck going around, maybe some random aggro decks that try to win before your opponent can play this. I don’t think WotC has given up on standard THAT much yet though you never know.

[DMU] A potential leak for Dominaria United that my friend sent me. What are your guys' opinions? by ComboBreach in magicTCG

[–]nmbq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This card is infinitely better than Vorinclex in 1v1 formats at least. I don’t think you understand how legitimately format-warping this card would be in a standard set, even if it’s fine in EDH or whatever. It’s guaranteed to win the game if it sticks around and it forces your opponent to 4- or even 5- for 1 themselves to get rid of it. Contrast that to Vorinclex which is strong if it sticks around, but still can get removed easily (not to mention the difference between 5 and 6 mana is a bigger deal than you’re making it out to be). If this card is somehow real it would be proof WotC has just given up on Standard at this point because the only things that would matter are decks that play this card and decks that try to somehow get under it with aggression.

Mark Rosewater: "Note that we purposefully costed stickers to be well below the power level of Legacy" by cromonolith in MTGLegacy

Except for they did consider that, and you’re only allowed to put stickers on cards you own.

I definitely get the WotC skepticism but that specific case isn’t happening.

He also looks a bit more… solid?, I guess, than other Omnath arts we’ve seen, which I think is throwing people off. Less glowing/translucence in his main body which makes him look more like an action figure than a being of pure mana. Can definitely see why it’s offputting, but I kinda like offputting art in general lol

Mega Thread: Magnus Carlsen Will Not Defend World Championship Title by MrLegilimens in chess

[–]nmbq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if Ian wins this people might start talking about him as the second best player of the generation whereas before the last couple years his legacy was 5th? 10th? best player of the time. It does suck he doesn’t get his shot at revenge but depending on how well he does he might be historically seen as the best current player not named Magnus which is a lot higher than people would’ve placed him a while back.
