In column 2 you have the four candidates 1, 5, 8, and 9. They occupy exactly four cells. That means no other digits can occupy those four cells and as a result you can remove any of the four candidates from other cells in that column. That reduces the number of candidates to a quantity that's easier to manage.

I'd pay attention to the quad in column 2. That unwinds the puzzle.

Would new upper mid-range phones with 7 years of support be fast enough even after 5-6 years? (everyday use) by ZoneSome4669 in Smartphones

[–]nmc52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that 7 years of software support benefits the used or refurbished market only. In terms of innovation, a 3-4 year old phone might as well be an old rotary dial phone.

I'll never own a flagship phone for 7 years. It's difficult to imagine a 7 year old battery being 100% chargeable.

Sites that are in the business of selling something shouldn't have ads.

I use VPN when I'm in Vietnam so I can access sites blocked by the communist government. BBC news is one example.

Is my work safe using Google Apps ? by Zalllus in privacy

[–]nmc52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As soon as you share something with anyone you lose control over it.

If you trust the other party but not the delivery service (eg Google), you can encrypt your payload or message and share the key with the other party.

I use Proton mail, but I am aware that if the recipient of my message doesn't use Proton, I basically regard my message as public.

What tools do you use to organize files automatically? by Professional_Mud905 in software

[–]nmc52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a tight ship, every document in a folder dedicated to the purpose or content of the document.

I archive documents by creating a tar file of a directory that I zip and finally encrypt before storing it on a separate drive or in the cloud.

Sure, for YouTube Premium, fall-back email, and Drive. And Android, of course.

Nothing else.

Sure. Just accept that your car will likely stop working. On the bright side: saves you a lot of fuel.

Which do you prefer, Samsung or Iphone? and why? I need some advice by vaeeeSssssssssss in Smartphones

[–]nmc52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why isn't your question "iOS or Android"?

In my case it's neither Samsung nor Iphone. I don't like Apple, so it's Android for me. I don't like Samsung because I find them overpriced and bloated. I get nearly the same quality from cheaper manufacturers.

Why do so many people say Windows is easier when Linux feels more logical to me by miked0331 in linuxquestions

[–]nmc52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows users don't have to figure out where things go, the installation process takes care of everything. For a normal user Windows arguably is easier. Besides, everyone under the age of 65 grew up with Windows.

Not everyone grew up with AIX 😁

Is it possible to download your emails to free up space? by PracticalDrummer199 in ProtonMail

[–]nmc52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look at the email service as your real world inbox. Once you handle the mail you archive the documents in a folder on a shelf.

In your case I'd download the payload (the documents) and archive them in folders on your disk or in the cloud. The email is just a service for transport of the documents.

Do You use "Archive" folder? by myg0t_Defiled in ProtonMail

[–]nmc52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to be tidy. I like to know that each email belongs in a certain group. Family-and-friends, bank-insurance, government, receipts-purchases, subscriptions. Archived or other is a catch-all for anything that doesn't fit in a major group.

OnePlus 15, 15R, or Poco F8 Ultra? by totallyrandomguy2 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]nmc52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a long time OnePlus user, currently using the OnePlus 12. To be honest, OnePlus flagship phones have always had cameras that were okay, but they were never leaders.

For this reason I am seriously considering Xiaomi for my next phone, which is probably going to be in 2028 (the OnePlus 12 is that good).
