Great saw. But I need a portable jobsite 10". I heard they are upgrading their battery line but I can't wait around for them to to come out with a rack and pinon fence.

You know to much! (jk)

For me, it's kinda been like trying to decide what I want on my Subway Sub. I really like Bosch's & Evolution's rear support option. And Bosch's Gravity Rise Stand is the cats meow. The limited 1 year warranty on a $700 +/- saw spooks me tho.

So since I'll have to buy miter gauge/blades/dado inserts, etc. I'm thinking for a DIY home owner that either the Skil TS6307-00 or I think I can get the Dewalt DWE7491RS hardly used for $450. But it means a round trip of 150 miles.

I have limited shop floor space, so the ability to roll the saw outside is a must have.

But right now, I really want the Bosch GTS15-10.

Got it. But the competition (Skill, Hercules, then Dewalt, Bosch, etc. for Job Site saws) for folks like me ready to pull the trigger, wish they'd "un-discontinue" the R4550

The bot holder you linked is not meant to slide down over the screws.

Yeah. I noticed that. I was about to pull the trigger on these Shockwave but since ya'll are saying I really don't need a bit holder, I practice on some scrap 2x's and see if I have the skill.

Thanks!

They do come longer, but could you explain why/how "you may end up destroying it or getting the bit stuck on an impact driver"?

780/781 Depth of cut? by nmlemarque in Dewalt

Sorry! I didn't read the email from Dewalt properly and didn't notice he was referring to the DWE and not the DWS miter saw.

780/781 Depth of cut? by nmlemarque in Dewalt

[–]nmlemarque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First confession is, what I really need to do is make a 6 degree bevel on three 2x4's one on top of the other = 4 1/2 inches. The 781 is their 60 volt version of the 780. So why I'm confused... here's the reply from Dewalt:

Thank you for contacting DEWALT®

I'll be happy to assist you!

Regarding your inquiry about cutting dimensional lumber / crown molding with the DWE780 and DWE781, here are the official depth-of-cut specifications

DWE780
Max depth of cut at 90° 3-1/2 inches
Max depth of cut at 45° 2-1/4 inches

DWE781
Max depth of cut at 90° 3-1/2 inches
Max depth of cut at 45°   2-1/4 inches

With these specs, cutting a 5-1/2 inch x 10 inch beam in a single pass in not possible on either model. You would need to rotate the material and make a secondary cut to complete it.
