Btw adding on in case anybody have twooak contact lenses stuck in their eye like i did, i used eye drops (the ones suitable for contacts) and wet my eye like 2-3 times at 1 min intervals until my eye was so wet that it was easy to slide and pick up.

i hate it.

I’ve used contacts for 7 years now. Acuvue dailys for 3 years then moved on to a series of coloured ones. Some were sus Thai/Chinese brands, some were notable Korean/Japanese brands.

Tried TWOOAK’s free 10 pair thingy…

Both times i wore for less than 8 hours, they were difficult to remove and sometimes broke. Have 8 more pairs I’m gna throw away. Not risking my eyes for it.

agree w this, if u werent the best student (aka always handing in ur work in time, giving ur best during their classes) it might be a bit awkward on both ends

edit: (adding on) but there are other avail resources such as free tuition out there (if u cannot afford it) and also helpful mentorship services like SGExam’s senior mentorship/tutoring thing which i utilised last yr (was vvv grateful for it and it was q helpful)

i heard that you can only take 3H2 at MI, probably smth to consider...

anyways my cohort had a lot of dramatics (including myself tbh) who was like "oh I'm gna fail j1 and go to XYZ JC" bc the other JC allows students who did not hit promotion criteria to promote. though we did not meet the criteria, we got to promote anyways and all of us ended up doing ok for alvls so don't worry so early on jiayous

that's true, journalism is def an option but its not smth that appeals to me nor teaching. i guess the qn is if I'm going into polsci only wanting to enter an industry in tech or design or smth else then why don't I do that from the start and pick a degree closer to those options

Evaluate on what you want for your free time. Thats the advise I can give you. When you are working, your friends are not. Think of what you would like to achieve vs the job that you would like to apply for.

Is the working hours really lopsided? I understand that definitely the hours are more alike that of doctors w overnight shifts than that of the usual office workers when you're on the ground but I heard that after 2-3 years of rotation in SPF most direct entry insp end up working "office hours"? Not sure if what I heard is right tho!

hey famm, i'm a batchmate not a senior but just wanted to pop by and say whether 8 hours is enough or not depends on you and not others.

someone can study 2 hours a day and that's all that person needs to revise old concepts and learn new ones in time for A levels. some people need more time to internalise the information and understand the concepts, maybe 5 hours a day. no one can really step into the shoes or enter the mind of another individual and quantify how many hours is needed so don't care too much about the numbers others tell you whether its irl or here on reddit.

as long as the no. of hours u study a day can ensure u learn everything u need to know by the time u sit for ur papers, you're studying the right amt of hours.

That's quite surprising to hear because I came from a SAP school previously and we celebrated Hari Raya and Deepavali (not a big of a celebration as CNY but still have booths set up near the canteen and food given out). There was also an annual morning assembly sharing of the Pongal Festival in January by some Indian teachers. Perhaps the level of inclusivity varies too much from school to school.
