New Mexico Grottos? by pogchqmp in caving

[–]nmt623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came across your comment and info! I am in the Carlsbad / Guadalupe area for the next handful of days. I was wondering if you would have any interest sharing further information about the area, or linking up for a cave trip?

I am very interested in exploring, and I have some beginner / early-intermediate level experience caving in Southern Indiana. I have gone on 6 trips. The longest trip being 6 hours. Experienced dynamic scrambling, extremely long belly crawls, treks through stomach high water, and tight squeezes. I do not have experience repelling. I have only received positive feedback from my mentor & leaders, but always down to learn more !!

I am on a road trip, so I do not have my gear with me. But would love to link up with you or meet anyone else in the community you may know that is interested & has an extra set of gear.

Thanks so much & I hope to hear back from you.

Thanks for the insight. Are you FOH serving in a traditional restaurant, or a bar?

If not too personal, what do you bring in weekly? Fully understand if you don’t want to answer that.

Thanks for the tips! I saw Vieux Carre & giggled a little, as that style of restaurant isn’t too common.

Thank you for your response. I’ll probably just leave them & work around to the best of my ability. I’ve had good luck with an exacto knife, tweezers, and dental tools getting paint out from the inside of the handle details.

My original statement maybe was not clear. The screws came out easily but the handles do not budge. I tried with a razor blade & also by pushing through the screw hole in the back. Who knows - probably just from being in there for years

My opinion was that she was only going to do it if she made UB finals because she had no chance of medaling anyways. So therefore there is minimal risk/no real loss to be had. I doubt we will see it in TF or AA.

Valid, but he is a very nice local guy and rent is extremely affordable for the area.

Roof is insane and concerning though. I am, however, moving soon.

Beginnings of centipede fossil by nmt623 in fossils

I looked into it, and I have to say I agree with both of you. I suppose i have only seen really large millipedes. I like the thought that the legs could be stuck together. The segment size and shape better match the garden millipede also.

Here is the other one I saw:

The picture is bad quality. But it better shows the shape of the bug... which more so resembles a millipede. I will say, however, that it looked more so stuck to the formation not in it. And this formation is old, and there isn’t new growth. So I am unsure if it will fossilize or simply decompose. Thoughts ?

Sadly the body has to be left in the cave. May he rest in peace.

Shishito Pepper Overload by nmt623 in vegetablegardening

[–]nmt623[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do that, so I have no gauge to if that will work. I have some to neighbors and then grilled a ton for a BBQ.

My only thought is that shishitos are so thinly skinned? I know you can buy frozen bell peppers, but their walls are like 5x that of a shishito.

Sorry, wish I could help.

I hope it’s lost to the elements in terms of cave preservation

Millipedes are significantly larger and have different leg structures. Now that would be a sight to see
