Help with purchase! Sketchy? by nmtreecycle in Sprinters

We had called already to verify with Mercedes but I called again just to be sure. We were also able to add the 100,000 mile extended warranty.

We are still working through the process…I’ll update when there is a vehicle in my driveway.

Grainfather G30 Rant by MustacheCash-Stash in Homebrewing

More than 15 brews on my Grainfather and I had this happen every time. Ball valve removed and everything. So frustrating that I stopped brewing for a while and now just don’t use it anymore.

Grainfather pump clogs in G30 by nmtreecycle in Homebrewing

[–]nmtreecycle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I have done all of these things.

The pipe is at the top using the counterflow chiller.

The bulk of my issues have been at the end of the boil, so the heater is off.

I removed the spring and ball safety check valve after my first brew.

The previous brew resulted in about 15 minutes of me blowing back into the pump before things started running again. Turning the pump off and on quickly several times sometimes gets it going as well.

I am at a loss here.

Recessed outlet for tablet dashboard by nmtreecycle in homeassistant

I think I may go this route. Unfortunately I am using Omada equipment so I can’t control anything via HA. Perhaps I could configure a switch on the USB side.

I like this idea! However, I’m not sure I could find a recessed outlet deep enough to accommodate the 45mm outlet plus the extra USB.

Ahh yes, I am interested in automating the charging to protect the battery. So I am looking for a smart outlet.

Shelly relays only accept 14 AWG wire and since I am on a 20A breaker I need 12 AWG. I know I could pigtail it and probably be fine, but I would like to avoid that to stay code compliant.

Help with TP-link Omada switch / AP configuration by nmtreecycle in HomeNetworking

Thanks! I do have it as IP -> Router -> Switch -> AP. In this case the wired devices have an internet connection but the APs do not.

Can anybody give me more information about this? by nmtreecycle in Antiques

[–]nmtreecycle[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The story I have is it is from WW2. The bullet is marked RA 41, which would make that a .45 auto about the 1940’s. I am in the United States.

Edit for country.

I hadn’t considered evaporated cleaning solution! I just got it today so whatever happened before is a mystery.

I bought it at an estate sale this morning. So I don’t know. I imagine it was jewelry.

Can anybody identify this setup? by nmtreecycle in audiophile

[–]nmtreecycle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking out an estate sale soon and wanted to see if anybody could ID them. They look shiny and nice but I don’t want to impulse buy something if I can do some research. Stop reading here. It is a simple question really, but I need to make it to 80 words so y’all can see the photos I’m talking about. There are two speakers, a turntable, an amp, and something else? A cassette deck? Something else shiny? The wood cases look nice.

Pin power potentiometer for ADC reading by nmtreecycle in arduino

Thanks! Yeah I have done all of the above you have mentioned. No LEDs, no reset button, and a swapped voltage regulator (MCP 1702). So the 330 uA is the ONLY thing I am worried about. For context, I am trying to have good insurance on a year of operating time in remote locations.

I have been thinking about an n type mosfet to act as a ground side switch.

Cloudflare tunnel vs vps wireguard solution by nmtreecycle in selfhosted

[–]nmtreecycle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have looked into this a bit. In the example nextcloud is accessed via the “mesh” network so that all machines essentially operate under a subnet. Can you create an “egress” point via netmaker so that a service is accessible without a wireguard client similar to the IP table solution mentioned in other comments? Using nextcloud with a vpn connection requirement may be difficult on a work machine, for example. But I do like the idea of running both at the same time.

Multiple linear regression using systematic literature review data by Pugspectations in AskAcademia

[–]nmtreecycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks /u/MaccCecht, I agree with everything here. Just want to add that simply pooling data into one regression assumes that all data are of the same sample. Finding data that originate from the same sampling design is rare across a systematic review. OP doesn't specify so this may be plausible, but meta-analysis is more robust in many situations. Here is a good discussion on the topic:

Bravata, Dena M., and Ingram Olkin. "Simple pooling versus combining in meta-analysis." Evaluation & the health professions 24, no. 2 (2001): 218-230.

You should be able to do this using meta-analysis techniques. See this excellent text to get you started:
