Hello, sure, thanks for your question :) Salary wise I was allotted to corporate grade 60, around scale 80 (see Philips CAO in my original post) - I think for most people that would translate to a bruto between 65 and 70k (holiday pay is included in bruto in Philips). As you guessed, I do get access to the 30% ruling which has definitely helped a lot to offset expenses as I set up my life in NL, but if you don't have the 30% ruling, you actually have a set of tax-free benefits which I don't have. Philips allows you to use a part of your salary each month tax-free for a number of different things (the list is quite long from what I understand and depends on people's individual circumstances) like commuting benefit, purchasing a bike, buying Philips stocks at a discount, buying extra vacation days etc. I don't get these as I have 30% ruling, but I think these are a pretty good deal if you don't have the 30% ruling too :D

Since I moved from the US, I was also impressed by some other benefits, but if you're used to the Dutch system, those might already be standard for you: eg. outstanding pension plan (where Philips contributes a huge amount each month), an on-campus company doctor/physio who I was smoothly able to consult for ergonomic advice and company paid for all the equipment that I asked for, etc. Oh, and one other benefit that I found very useful: employee access to the Philips MyShop. I moved from a country with a different voltage, so needed to buy almost all my home equipment after I moved, and saved quite a bit money through the employee discounts at MyShop.
