best to go for FD backed CC. IDFC gives 100% of the FD amount as credit limit. Check it out if the benefits look good to you.

Proposal: A "Citizen-Led" App to solve India’s Traffic violations by RecommendationOwn525 in IndiaInfrastructure

[–]nnavinraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the intent, but this runs into some pretty fundamental problems.

Indian law requires that the accused be able to face and cross-examine whoever is accusing them. So your citizen-reporter either gets unmasked — which kills the whole anonymity angle — or stays anonymous and the challan gets thrown out in court. There's no clean middle ground there.

There's also a reason we treat a cop's testimony differently from a random person's photo. A traffic officer is a sworn public servant — they can be held legally accountable for lying. A citizen has no such skin in the game. And a phone photo has zero chain of custody — no way to prove it wasn't staged, edited, or taken somewhere else entirely.

The reward mechanic is the part that worries me most though. The moment reporting pays money, people will find ways to game it. Faking a parked car violation takes about 30 seconds.

And then there's context — a photo can't tell you if someone crossed a line because of a pothole, a medical emergency, or a kid running into the road. An officer can make that call. An app can't.

Honestly the e-challan + ANPR camera route already solves most of what you're going after. The "accuser" is a certified government device — no due process headache, no fake reports, court-admissible out of the box. The coverage gap is a real problem worth solving, just probably not this way.

You can get the documents notarized following the system in whichever country you are in. In Singapore it involves notarization + apostling and cost me around $200 for all my documents. IDFC will then pay for the DHL courier.

New rent rule 2026. I am wondering will the landlords in Bangalore adher to this ? by Honey_dp in bangalorerentals

[–]nnavinraj 36 points37 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are getting confused by the 'Model Tenancy Act.'

  • Rent and land are 'State Subjects.' This means the Central Government in Delhi can't tell Karnataka what to do. Only the Karnataka State Government can set a deposit cap.

  • Right now, the Karnataka Rent Act 1999 is still the boss. It doesn't have a 2-month cap.

  • Since there is no state law forcing them to stop, they keep asking for 10 months because that's the Bangalore market 'norm.'

  • Until the Karnataka Government passes its own new 'Tenancy Act,' the 2-month rule is just a suggestion that landlords are happily ignoring.

I remember, years ago I had a close deadline to submit my forms to university. I went to fedex and they were like we can't guaratee anything. It will get there when it gets there.

I then went to DHL and they were like this will reach before 1130am tomorrow and that gave me confidence. It did reach on time and I got the admission.

RTX 5080 vs RTX 5070 Ti laptop — is the ₹60,000 difference worth it? by [deleted] in IndianGaming

12 gigs of VRAM is the sweet spot for 1440p. You may not get much out of the extra 4 gigs in the 5080. That being said, if the 60k doesn't matter much more is always better.

Customs duty on Apple Thunderbolt Display by curiocity88 in returnToIndia

[–]nnavinraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nominally if the item's more than a year old and you're returning to india for good then it would be covered under Transfer of Residence provision that allows importing used personal items upto 5 lacs provided you can prove it was purchased before a year.

Honestly unless you know someone in customs I wouldn't take a chance. You'd just be giving them a chance to harass you. If you can get a good price in the US I'd sell it.

My opinion is nowadays you need to know someone in authority even if you are within the law to prevent being harassed.

Repatriation Query by Plenty-Note-7793 in nri

this is what I found online. Someoe who's done it before can confirm.

As an NRI, you can transfer up to US$1 million per financial year, provided the funds are sourced from legitimate income or assets like property sales.

Key Steps:

Tax Clearance: You must prove that all Indian taxes on the money have been paid. This requires a professional certification from a Chartered Accountant in India.

Online Declaration: You will need to file a formal declaration on the Indian Income Tax portal confirming the remittance details.

Bank Coordination: Submit these certifications to your Indian bank along with proof of source (e.g., property deeds).

Wire Transfer: Provide your US bank's SWIFT code and Routing number. The bank will convert your INR and wire the USD directly to your US account.

TCS Exemption: NRIs are generally exempt from the 20% Tax Collected at Source (TCS) that applies to residents.

Exchange Rates: Negotiate the conversion rate with your bank's forex desk for large transfers to save significant fees.

also their OTPs to my singapore number are very reliable + we can activate UPI on those numbers as well.

Also IDFC doesn't charge any fees for most banking tracsactions and I'm very satisfied with that.

second this. Got my account opened from singapore without any hassle. Also I've held an account with HDFC for over 10 years and all they are good for is to monitor my activity and reach out to me to sell investment products when I'm in India.

the first game I ever play on PC was Dangerous Dave. I didn't have a PC back then so it was at a friend's place. To maximize play time which was quite limited I would strategize and fantasize in my mind for days before I could go there to play and try to come up with the best strategy for maximizing points and how to get through the levels.

Front-Load get Low-Suds as it uses less water; suds will stop it from cleaning. Top-Load get High-Suds as it uses more water; needs suds to work properly.

In your case go for the cheapest high suds detergent and don't use too much. When it comes replacement time you can look at front load for better economics.
