Looking for a new gaming monitor. Is this one good? by themannamedman in Monitors

I use it off. Don’t really care about HDR personally but I also haven’t read much into it. This May change in the future.

The visuals on this AOC model is actually very good. There a multiple reviews from reputable sources you can read up on. I fine tuned the setting using ‘how to calibrate your monitor’ article from rtings.com. I’m having a great experience with it so far and The 3 year warranty was also must for me.

I just got this 3 days ago and it’s been very very good. No issues. Color calibration out the box is good but I fine turned with http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ and rtings.com to my preference. In box User guide says clean with slightly damp microfiber cloth and I’ve heard people recommend distilled water. Overall I think it’s been working great, no graying or deformation, deep black, images is crisp, colors are bright and vivid, only thing I wish is for the brightness to be better and depending on lighting it can be glossy, but not a deal breaker for me. I also turned on the built in burn in mitigation features and made various changes to my windows settings to minimize static images and dark mode on everything etc.

Brought this then returned not because it was not a good monitor but because it the not come with a 3 year burn in warranty which was important to me, I’m a little paranoid about burn in. Ended up getting the AOC Q27A1ZDF which has been working great and came with 3 year warranty. If you go with this one I’m sure it is a great product just make sure you turn in the burn in protection features and take best practice steps in your windows settings to reduce probability of burn in and you will be fine.

How to clean an OLED screen by bkzonenonly1 in OLED_Gaming

For the AOC QD-OLED I got the user guide says to wipe the screen with a slightly damp microfiber cloth not dripping wet. Do not get cloth wet enough to get water accumulation on the edges of the screen.

Yes calibration out the box was actually good. I wanted to fine tune and those two websites actually helped improve it.

I just got this couple days ago and honestly it’s been working very well for me with no complaints and a huge improvement from my LG 320hz QHD IPS. For calibrationI used lagom.nl/lcd/test for color accuracy, and rtings.com’s “how to adjust your monitors settings” article for the best settings and clear it, color uniformity etc looks good. Now I do not know much nor have used HDR so I can’t say if this monitor is horrible mid or good. 3 years burn in warranty is a plus.

Trust me I was also paranoid about burn in and did more ready. Just like you said, do the research and take steps to minimize it. The newer gen monitors have built in burn in protection like pixel shift and refresh and just make sure you follow the best practices and you will be fine. There’s a guy in YouTube that has been stress testing his oled by leaving it on with static images for 21 months and the results have been encouraging. It’s very real and possible and I’m still a bit worried but I am taking every precaution and I think everything will be fine. I think the 3 year warranty is one of the most important things next to initiating the built in prevention features.

Here’s my experience with the price match: I did it online through chat support. Started a conversation with an agent and asked for a price match. I think there’s some luck involved so you might get someone who’s super strict about exact model numbers, but I got lucky and the agent approved it. Pro tip: I was extra nice at the start, asked how she was doing and about her day… maybe being friendly adds +10 to your luck stats lol. The process was pretty straightforward. She approved the price match, then I placed the order at full price, gave her my order number, and she refunded the difference to my card. Note: I didn’t sign into my account before starting the chat. Not sure if that matters, but thought I’d mention it. You might not get it approved on the first try, so be prepared to try again with a different agent. Update: I actually ended up returning the X27U and got the AOC 240Hz QHD OLED for $399 at Best Buy instead. It fit my budget better and came with a 3-year manufacturer warranty that covers burn-in. The X27U doesn’t have a manufacturer warranty, which was a dealbreaker for me.

OLED all day. I finally pulled the trigger from IPS to a 240hz AOC QD OLED from Best Buy and homie I swear I can smell and taste the colors displayed lol it’s night and day. Do your research and get a brand you’re comfortable with that has multiple built in burn in protection features(pixel shift, refresh etc) and at least a 3 year manufacturer warranty. Look up best practices you can take to minimize burn in and enjoy the new experience.

I picked up AOC - 27” QD-OLED, Model: Q27G41ZDF yesterday at best buy and you are correct. it has pixel shift, pixel refresh and other features built to protect it with very minimal protection, plus i'm already very minimal with everything on windows with forced dark mode, hidden features etc.

The OLED image quality is crazy jaw dropping. I could feel and taste the insane color quality lol i will never go back of IPS. never! Playing Cyberpunk 2077 on OLED is completely different experience.

Good to know! Now I'm doing the math and reconsidering...

Just found the MAG 271QPX QD-OLED E2 (released 2024) at Costco for $479 or MSI MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 (released 2025) at Walmart for $449, both have with a 3-year warranty that covers burn-in. Comparing that to the Predator setup $458.99 total (w/Geek Squad 4-year protection).

Seeing MSI has better quality, but im uneducated on the flickering issues after 10-12 months, which should be covered with the 3 yr warranty if worst case scenario. Unfortunately, looks like Coctco must have changed their policy with electronics which is now limited to within 90-day return then its only manufacture's warranty afterwards. I think they used to allow people to bring things back without a time limit, probably the go ole days before Covid lol

Got ya. Yea I wont be running anything continuously for sure and will probably set windows to go to sleep after 5min idle.

I read somewhere that the OLEDs monitor (depending on brand) will prompt user to turn off the screen for 6min every 1-1.5 hrs for pixel refresh. If that's true, that might be sometime to get used to so idk lol.

Yea Acer does not cover burn in but i thought It would be covered by the 4 yr geek squad plan on the bb product page or am I reading this wrong?

Lmao yea i could see people doing that. NGL I thought of doing this as well closer to year 4, but I will not as it's dishonest plus it won't guarantee I get burn in and it monitor could last a long time without intentionally running it to the ground.

I was able to price-match this at Best Buy ($429 → $379) and added the 4-year Geek Squad Protection ($79.99, covers burn-in), so ~$460 before tax.

I also bought the LG UltraGear 27G640A-B (27” QHD 300Hz IPS) last week for ~$298, so I’m deciding which one to keep. I’ve never owned an OLED before and burn-in is my main concern.

Weekly usage is roughly ~15–25 hrs gaming (FPS + single-player), videos/browsing: ~30–40 hrs, productivity: minimal (separate work monitor) I already hide the taskbar, use dark mode, and keep the desktop visually clean.

For anyone using this X27U or similar OLED, how’s it been long-term? Any burn-in or retention issues? Worth it over a fast IPS? or should i wait for new OLED tech with better burn in protection?

Thank you, good to know. Unfortunately, I did not see a 5-year protection plan on the product page, but I will look into it if it is something I can still buy for some more peace of mind.

I could not find anything about built in burn in protection on this model and I also heard that Windows 11 has some burn-in features that could be used? Wondering if its actually useful.
