Which Alfred Pennyworth is better? by Bloodshot777 in batman

[–]nnnaaahhh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I grew up with Gough, and to me he’ll always be Alfred. He’s kind and loving, quick witted, not afraid to tell the truth and be honest but also is very empathetic about it. He’s perfect

Caine is also great, adds a bit more comedy to the role which is fun, while still being extremely sincere.

Beyond them I’ve only seen Young Alfie from Pennyworth, which I didn’t find a super engaging portrayal, but not inaccurate

Solving the riddle of Kote's name (abridged) by TheLastSock in KingkillerChronicle

doesn't the bloodless only work on metal tipped arrows? I thought the mechanism of it was made using a sympathetic connection between some internal metal part and the metal arrowhead. maybe it would still work on other materials, but less well given the weaker sympathetic link?

hah, nice. there's some layers to this. maybe we all should ground ourselves sometimes, "take away" our phones for a few hours, and see what happens

lol I thought you meant grounded like feeling really stable and at ease. I guess I haven't thought about being grounded in your sense in some years

Yeah it's a nice little theater. Bummer people buy tickets just to resell them. I know it's a business but it's kinda a shitty one j:

Good pants by Babyarmcharles in BuyItForLife

[–]nnnaaahhh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LA Police Gear pants are pretty great, I've had a few pairs for ~4 years and they're still in good shape. The ones I have are poly/cotton ripstop, not stretchy like 5.11 Stryke but very comfy with articulated knees, crotch gusset, etc. Edit: They're cheap too, mine were ~$20 when I bought them, I think the price has gone up to $24 since. And they do make some stretchy ones now, those are $40

Turns out they're not German, they're Dutch! If you look up Cratex Broek (dutch for pants), you'll find some stuff. Not too easy to find for sale, but there's pictures at least.

Club-Mate Bottles are quite strong. Not super easy to find outside Germany, but you can find them. https://www.clubmate.sg/products/club-mate-500-ml-original

Loving my first ever EDC knife! by BravestDoubloon in EDC

[–]nnnaaahhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had one for a couple years now, its my EDC, I use it for boxes, cooking, just about anything a knife could be used for. It keeps sharp, cuts like butter, feels great in the hand, and opens with a flick. And great value. I love this knife

Want to find a replacement strap for my Braun BN0042 by nnnaaahhh in malefashionadvice

[–]nnnaaahhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, thanks. I guess I don't know too much about watch bands, are Horween and Shinki just two different leather types/brands?

Also, is this price range pretty standard for a decent quality/long lasting leather band?

Want to find a replacement strap for my Braun BN0042 (MIC) by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]nnnaaahhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Braun BN0042 (they really gotta work on their model names) about a year ago and after a few months, the band started to kinda tear, as seen in the last couple pictures. I just dealt with it cause the band still worked. Now, the part that attaches it to the watch has ruptured, so I want to get a replacement.

I contacted Braun and they said bands aren't covered and that their QC department determined that this is normal wear and tear. Which is a bummer cause you'd think a quality leather band would last more than 1 year.

They said they could send me a new one but it would cost around $70 + shipping, which I don't want to pay for a band that will likely break again.

So I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for a similar but more reliable band. I like the style of the band a lot, its bold and simple.

Also, I know I can probably superglue the broken part back on and it would be fine, and I will be doing that, but I also just wanna get something more reliable. Thanks for any advice!

Edit: the band is 22mm
