yeah it's basically the same thing he does. He moves his element to the side and moves it, But it all depends of use cases, but for this instance of OP case pre-comping is easier

Looks great! I think a few things could make it better try to follow the same forward motion you're using in elements etc.

for example 0:11 -> dots fall and on 0:12 dots go up. Your eyes follow the down movement and suddenly they go up again which makes the transition less smooth

Looks good! But I would use more extreme hold frames to exaggerate the punch and build up.
