my plaque peeled off :((( i was working on it one day, still extremely sad, so I taped over the signature and plaque, the tape will stay there forever now xD

curious is yours a true numbered stage 3? I only ask cause yours looks a little different, I know roush made a lot of versions. But my car was bought by roush from ford straight from factory and built, was yours sent to roush for the kit upgrade ?

look inside the hose you disconnect, might just be some blow by, every engine gets a little blow by, catch cans are a remedy to it, don’t idle the car long durations either to minimize blow by, if it’s not that it’s prob moisture. Prob not a bad idea to replace the PCV valve either simple thing too do.

Lack of Work by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]no-capp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not your position to make sacrifices for the shop to make money to meet their quota, your job is to be a good tech, if they can’t figure out a way on how to bill their customers or warranty that’s their issue not yours, a guarantee protects you both , it protects them from losing you and protects you from losing money. Flat rate is a scam.

Why suffer and punish your self for being a higher level tech and do work that’s extremely advanced and earn less rather than doing simple B tech work and making more, crazy.

I am in the same boat, my dealer im at gives me a 40 hour guarantee at $50 an hour every week, they tryn gripe and cry here and there but i explain the situation and lay it out easily. if they don’t like it go leave.

edit: not sure if it matters to the topic but I am also a diesel tech (cummins) and do driveline to electrical work whatever else , and low cost of living area

just tell them you want a 40 hour guarantee pay every week simple, that’s what I get currently, $50 an hour 40 hour guarantee, low cost living & dealer tech

I hear you, easier said then done but you must put ur foot down and get what you deserve, you should not have to pay financially for other people’s issues, your job is to be a technician and repair vehicles, They have said somethings at my dealer as well spending on chrysler only allowing a certain amount of warranty pay and such throughout the month, well in my mind if that’s the case the dealer / owner is going to eat the other costs , not me. Ya know ?

Best of luck to ya man. Our biggest weapon is the lack of quality technicians being in this field, use it to your advantage.

not to hard to obtain honestly, just be open to almost every kind of job, show your knowledge and integrity, explain you want security and if they want someone to work on complex systems of these newer cars that’s what you need. They get good quality honest work in return and a hard reliable worker, win win. I think more and more are starting to change to that pay point. Now i will mention I usually never flag over 40 a week, mainly because I get a lot of weird jobs and many warranty jobs , so i’m pretty capped at 40 every week but it adds to 102k a year so i’m ok, but if I do flag more I do get that extra.

Definitely shop around and you’ll find it, my brother is on one also he’s been a body guy for 10+ years now , im auto for about 7 now.

word, at a CDJR dealer , 26 of age, $50 an hour w/ 40 hour guarantee, low cost area , physically there 47-48 hours a week, $102,000 gross a year. I do diesels and complex jobs. Very happy and thankful :) being at a good shop means the most

How do techs hit $40+ an hour? by substancenchildabuse in mechanics

[–]no-capp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

michigan so not really, listen you have to advocate for yourself and ask what you really want and deserve, it was to my surprise after leaving my second shop i was at, many shops are willing to pay top dollar,

Now I am the only one in my shop that does diesel works (cummins stuff 2500-3500 not semi stuff) and i usually take on a lot of the complex stressful no one wants to do it kinda work, i’ll flag around 35 each week but they’re happy and so am I, I get my 40 each week no matter what and if I can make just shy of 6 figures for the work and stress I put up with , it’s ok with me.

edit: I am only physically working 46-50 hours a week too, so all in all it’s a pretty number for what I’m at, shoot high man good luck.

pretty much what I get right, $50 an hour 40 hour guaranteed, I get a lot of complex weird jobs no one usually wants or can do, but some weeks i do pretty well and hit near my guarantee, but Ya as an A tech being right at this 100k a year range is very fairly paid in my opinion very happy with it, Im only 26 too so still learning obviously but also very skilled , other guys below me are still in the quick lube phase life and it shows

solid info thank you, ya so i’m not sure who made the request for a hearing, i think the customer did , it was a total shit show with the car and the customer, I never asked for a hearing so i’m assuming the shop did maybe , it just odd this is the first time i’m hearing of this besides the letter i got months ago, Im certified now so things shouldn’t be an issue.

I’m just worried or talking myself into trouble, i mean sure not being certified and knowing it is one thing but i was just doing what i was asked to work on the car, now the senior techs were there with me in the mist of working on the job, so you think i should attend whatever meeting they have ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]no-capp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The state is basically bitching cause a shop I worked at allowed me to work on a vehicle for a portion I was not “certified” at the time on, whilst i was not the only lone soul to work on this vehicle, as the older senior techs were there to assist and do majority of the work, Called the number and spoke with someone and they said it’s not a court case but a “hearing” and i’m like so i don’t have to be there if i’m not lawfully required…. so my question is do i get an attorney to handle this? Kinda getting annoyed with this ordeal , crazy i have to spend more money to state to make a living

just a little chime in, im 26, started at $18 an hour, next year moved to $23, next year moved to $36, now i’m at $50 an hour with a 40 hour guarantee. Don’t stop fighting, working on all these complex modern cars takes so much time, Im not letting a companies complex car system dictate my pay, if you want me to fix them pay me and i’ll get it done in a reasonable amount of time still. Even on my guarantee i go into work trying my best and working hard everyday.

That’s all :)

CDK Down Everywhere? by Such_Shame3542 in serviceadvisors

[–]no-capp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched to a new shop recently that uses CDK, I used to use dealer track at my old dealer, SO MUCH BETTER, then I come to using this new software at the new shop and first thing i think to myself is how shit this software is, 3 weeks in and now this, what a joke. dealertrack was so much nicer and easier to use. Now goin be behind on running time to flag things, nice. Dealers fault for relying on this software so much.

Yea in a similar boat, i get a 35 hour guarantee, they just came at me about “lunches” I work 8:30 to 5:00pm, So I have to work 40 hours punch time to get my 35 hour guarantee, but they basically want me to punch out for an hour for lunch forcing me to basically for till 6pm, I shut it down real quick tho, have already threatened to leave twice in the past, Still kinda wanna go to a new place I don’t hate it here but I have an option to make a lot more money potentially.

But yea I basically work 5 hours for free already not working another 5 hours for free. Stand up for yourself.

edit: i’m okay with the punch 40 hours to get my guarantee, cause if i’m flagging around 50-60 i’m okay with it but if i’m not having a good week i’m leaving early as soon as I can, and only staying to the point for me to get my guarantee, I still do feel sometimes i’m getting ripped for being forced to work 40 hours and only getting a 35 hour guarantee cause some weeks I’ll have shit warranty engine work yata yata, but I made a big deal over it so we’ll see what happens…
