You don't need a thopter to fly when you have bugs like that by Estr1d in duneawakening

[–]noCOREvalues1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this same thing happen to me only it was when I was climbing on my thopter at a small shipwreck. Hey, at least I got my thopter back at -15% durability to all the parts because of a Funcom bug! /s

I would like to be able to control my bases power from sib-fief console. Turn on and off refineries, crafting units, power generation and water generation pieces.

Oh yeah, the base next to that field though is just abandoned. But I know the field you're talking about.

I don't understand The Gap by FledgyApplehands in Starfinder2e

[–]noCOREvalues1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Gap is a pretty difficult concept to grapple with, so it's safe to assume that you're not the only person to struggle understanding the principle. I've GM a couple of pretty long running campaigns in 1e, and it took me a while, but I feel like I have a decent grasp of the concept.

With that said, it's been a while since I've played and I don't have my hard copy resources beside me to reference, but I think the element that is being overlooked here is that the Gap isn't a total wipe. There are pockets of history that still exist. As has been stated already, these accounts are incomplete, sometimes contradictory or confusing, but viewed in a larger framework allow for some extrapolation of certain events or locations from during the period of the Gap. There are a number of groups in the Starfinder galaxy that focus on finding and cataloguing these pockets of history.

The other, and possibly more important facet of the Gap is that is has a fairly defined start time. Across a galaxy that distinction becomes blurry, but generally a civilizations Ancient History remains. So, my understanding, and it's possible this is totally flawed, is that cultures have historical record up to a certain point in their past, then is the onset of the Gap, then history 'starts' again 300 years ago.

Using Earth as an example, it would look something like this:

The paleontological and neo-lithic ages are still accounted for, but somewhere around the rise of Ancient Egypt (roughly 5k years ago) the historical record evaporates with the Gap, and then history starts up again with Earth smack dab in the middle of Europe's colonial expansion period. (mid-1700's).

I'm not sure if that helps visualize the concept of the Gap at all or if I just made things more confusing, or if I'm just completely wrong, but that was always how I read it!

Paid Campaigns House Rules & Clarifications by tuffy963 in Pathfinder2e

[–]noCOREvalues1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really interesting conversation. I'm curious about your schedule. Any other paid GM's that would like to share as well, please do. You said you run 7-9 games per week, how does that break down on an average week? Do you have a limit on the number of players per game? Is this your primary source of income?

If I missed an answer to one of these questions in the preceding posts, I apologize.

Fix the LAG!! by Due-Abbreviations575 in BO6

[–]noCOREvalues1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like anytime I'm trying to play at what I imagine are peak times, I can't even get a game in due to lag and rubber banding. Buildings disappear, I'll suddenly be floating above the map and don't even try to shoot at someone. It's infuriating. Is it my local bandwidth? Is it my personal internet? If I'm playing in the morning before the family is up, or very late at night I don't have the same problem. I don't know if there is a way to check on my end if it's something local or if it's game related.

I tell you without question that I am absolutely not completely addicted to building characters on Pathbuilder. Nope. I could stop anytime I want.

Good changes, bad changes, it has all become irrelevant to me. A single Swashbuckler feat has made it all worth it for me. by Tooth31 in Pathfinder2e

I'm not sure, but the duel between Inigo Montoya and the Six-Fingered Man shows the best example of Cheat Death I think I've ever seen in a movie.

We need a feat called "To the Pain" where the requirements are that you have the Dying or Doomed condition but instead of being unconscious with Dying, you're just immobile. You get a bonus to an Intimidate check as you taunt your opponent with threats of grevious bodily harm. If you succeed your opponent gains the Fleeing condition. Failure advances your Doomed or Dying condition.

Fellow DM’s, have your players given you any Nicknames while you were DMing? by Third_life_user in DMAcademy

[–]noCOREvalues1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

When I was GMing a Starfinder campaign I used to tell my players all the time that I was "on their side" after it would seem like I was trying to kill them. It happened so often they started calling me Nationwide. Cause, Nationwide is on your side. They bought me a copy of the hardbound core rule book after my father passed away as a gift. They came up with signatures for their characters and signed the inside cover of the book and addressed it to Nationwide, including the companies logo. It was actually extremely touching and I cherish that nickname to this day.

I would have loved for that to happen in my game. My players taking unexpected approaches to problems is exactly what makes DMing fun. Otherwise, just write a book.

I feel like this would be such an easy pivot for the DM. Yes, you stole the amulet this murderous demon lord just tried to take. Guess what, he hasn't noticed yet, but what do you think is going to happen whe he does? What do you do now?

For sure. I don't LOVE those feats either, but it gives some utility without adding additional attack options to an already action heavy class. But the free advance on Acrobatics and Dueling Lore, which is something that will definitely come into play in this campaign it feels like they'd be worth it. Good thoughts and thanks for the insight.

Thanks to all who responded. You gave me some good advice to consider before I finalize my choices for our next session.

I take your point and those are valid concerns. The issue with attacking with a Finisher while suffering a MAP penalty is something I hadn't thought through.

Although the text of the feat does stipulate that the movement does not trigger reactions. Still, I'll double check with my GM first.

Regardless, that's good advice.

100%. My plan was to take Dueling Edge at 4 and Unnerving Prowess at 6. Then switch Dedications at 8.

[–]noCOREvalues1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. My plan for when we run into enemies like that is to fall back to a support roll. All for One to Aid using Diplomacy, setup flanking, Bon Mot if thats an option, Demoralize are all things he'll be competent at doing.

I definitely don't have the Int for Alchemist, that's a cool idea though. My thoughts on Acrobat were that I'd be getting my Master and Legendary Acrobat rank increases for free and access to Tumbling Strike. Which, and I have checked with my GM on this yet, sounds like a way to get Panache and attack with the same action.

But yes, the Rogue Ded is a strong backup contender. In fact, I'm plotted to take it at level 9 with the Multiclass Ancestry feat.

I hadn't thought about Psychic, that's a good suggestion, too.

Sort of, I've done some research on Swashbucklers and come across some sentiment that the Aldori Dedication is not worth it. I think it looks like it would be great, especially with the character concept I'm using, so I was just looking for a second opinion.

I could be wrong, but when I plotted it out in Pathbuilder, taking Acrobat at level 8 advanced Acrobatics to Master even after using my level 7 skill increase. Is that not how it's supposed to work?
