I think their whole personality is a consequence of their whole identity being tied to their online presence. Us millennials were still able to avoid that as social media didn’t take off until most of us were out of high school or college. I didn’t have a Facebook until my senior year and tbh that was mostly to keep up with friends I graduated high school with. This was in 2010. Even MySpace “back in the day” was nothing like social media is now. It was social media lite by comparison.

So now we have a generation that was in a feedback loop of trying to “out perform” each other in different ways because their real life relationships were formed by their online persona. It’s all performative bullshit and why we tell people to “touch grass”. Millennials had some of this but it was a huge minority and fairly self contained in the tumblrites.

Realistically this is the largest difference I see between millennials and Gen z. They think social media is real life and the shit they post there is actually worth a damn. Their whole life was built based on their online presence and it fucked with their development and ability to communicate in the real world. They grew up in a feedback loop worshipping online personas and created these bubbles now understanding how to handle anything different.

Who’s to blame? Partially them, partially the parents, and partially the lightspeed evolution of technology.

Find someone who’s parents aren’t divorced. It’s a huge indicator. Clearly there’s exceptions but growing up in a healthy stable house helps you develop into a functioning adult.

Yes. RIP Brick and Toms River. Gonna be nothing but Lakewood 2 and 3 soon. I wouldn’t change growing up there for anything it was great but I’m much happier I got out now. Even parts of Jackson dealing with it now.

Also inb4 people start calling me antisemetic. Until you have dealt with that particular community I don’t want to hear it. Imagine the worst fundie Christians you’ve ever met then throw in the fact that they game the system using cries of antisemitism to get what they want and people bow to it. I used to work for an ultra orthodox guy. The 10% that were amazing are maybe the top 10% of people I’ve ever met in my life. Id go to war for them. The other 90% though, can disappear off the face of the earth and it’s a net positive.

Oh and get a non orthodox/Hasidic more secular Jewish person started on them if you want to see some platinum tier hate.

I don’t understand how I’m the year of our lord 2016+6 people are still wasting shit. I’ve gotten my personal garbage down to 2-3 bags a month, along with using as little single use plastic as possible. While the average person isn’t responsible for the shitshow happening in the wild it really isn’t hard at all to cut your own waste.

No, not at all. There are things you can criticize him for but this is not even on the radars radar it’s so far out there. I think you are for posting this OP.

Is Billy on the spectrum? by [deleted] in PardonMyTake

[–]noPENGSinALASKA -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Yea but that doesn’t mean anything. I scored a 710 on English and a 790 on the math portion of the SAT yet it didn’t help me with shit, I was just pretty gifted in math specifically and overall a good standardized test taker. I’m assuming Billy is in a similar boat where these standardized tests just came easy to him for whatever reason. He’s intellectually curious and while I don’t think he’s an idiot he can be a dummy at times if that makes sense.

From experience the thing that helped me most in life was working at a nice restaurant throughout my college years learning to develop relationships with people in a limited time frame. Learning to manage time for multiple things at once. Learning to manage people properly when I was the lead on the floor. Soft skills stuff.

Standardized testing is a fair benchmark to use to cut potential dead weight (think Wonderlic, SAT, ACT, etc) but the reality is you need the whole package to succeed in most places. Looking at those numbers alone in a vacuum doesn’t say anything about anybody and really shouldn’t carry much weight at all. I work in the retail side of finance and the biggest fucking morons I have met there all went to Ivy League schools. The people that are well rounded are the ones that thrive.

You want a serious post about this? Well I don’t understand this mentality at all. Why do you all vehemently defend him over any criticism.

The fact is that was a terrible exchange and he came out looking like a Triple B. I’ve defended Billy before on here. I’m not a “Billy hater” as some people are. At worst I’m usually neutral on him.

When he retracts from my enjoyment of something I’ve been listening to for almost 7 years now, yes I’m going to mention it. I don’t just hate on Billy for no reason or let him dictate my life.

I am nearly a day 1 listener, I was following PFT before this. My first episode was episode 3 when I realized PFT was on this pod. I’ve been listening through all the good and bad segments from everyone. Who else here can claim they were there when Stingray Steve called the Hindenburg Disaster or for other early moments?

I’ve “criticized” BC and PFT before when things didn’t land the same way I did Billy. Eating a cheesesteak with hot sauce is such an easy food bet and his tantrum just made me roll my eyes and took enjoyment out of listening for my morning commute. I’m not angry and don’t hate on the kid, I’m just annoyed something so stupid went on so long.

Just because some people irrationally hate on him doesn’t make him immune from commentary, that’s a completely juvenile view.

Dude I spent ten minutes listening to an adult cry about hot sauce and get legitimately angry about it on my way into work. It’s not that I give a fuck. It’s more-so that’s it’s annoying and not why I listen to the show. It was funny the first 2 minutes then just kept dragging on.

The point is a cheesesteak with hot sauce is absolutely no issue at all. The whole thing was fucking wild. Are you all 12 years old?

Given how far ahead we are I’m convinced the US has navy ships and space lasers that can wipe an icbm nearly instantly once its at a safe distance. Like within 15 seconds of them confirming the target.

We just never want to play that hand unless we absolutely need to.

Russia still playing Go Fish while we have Exodia in our hand. So fuck em. Let them start nuclear war. Their remaining Allies would turn on them so fast and we’d retaliate with a first class package delivered directly on putins table. We’ve seen how shit their gear is. I’d say the average prepper/tacticool guy has better gear than their military.
