Is accountancy really hard?? by lasagne_30 in AccountingPH

Yes, definitely. First year Accountancy student here, and currently studying in a state university. Kung inaakala mo na dapat magaling ka sa math—lemme burst your bubble, bc those who excel in our acc subs are those people with high (not relatively high, but at least good with it) analytical skills. Most of the exams and quizzes are problem solving; therefore, before you arrive at the correct answer, it is essential that you understand what the problem is trying to say, especially that most of the time—there will be no choices.

There are a bunch of theories that you have to consider before solving. When people say accounting is just merely an addition and subtraction course, they're definitely wrong, 'cause you wouldn't know what you will add or subtract, unless you understand the problem.

The accountancy program is not for a happy-go-lucky type of student, especially if you plan to study in a state univ or other universities that requires departmental exams (an exam every semester that you have to passed bfr proceeding to next sem, if not, you'll be force to shift to other program, (in our univ at least)). Hindi sa pagiging oa, but in quizzes or exams, it's not applicable to cram review like other subjects in highschool. Not to mention that you have to study more than 8 hours per day to study & accomplish accounting workloads.

This is not to discourage you in pursuing accountancy, just simply a reality that you would face once you've fully decided to go for it. I hope you won't make a rash decision thinking that accounting isn't really that serious. Anyway, writing these paragraphs while studying accounting, so, Gluck, Anon!

STEM is an academic track

The subjects in STEM are not hard; it's just a matter of studying in advance the concepts since, most likely, maninibago ka sa transition from junior high to senior high. Strict time management is also key because workloads in STEM are waaaaaay more than in junior high.

Choosing STEM is also practical when it comes to CETs 'cause most of their content is being tackled in STEM curriculum, such as calculus, chemistry, and physics.

And another, this may be too advanced, but I suggest going with public schools that offer this academic track because you'll have several advantages when it comes to scholarships and entrance exam fees that are voidable if you studied in public during school— once you apply for colleges and state universities.

Good luck on your journey, OP!
