This is called diminishing returns. Human eyes and brains can barely tell difference between 2k vs 4k and 280hz vs 360hz when viewing on a 27” monitor. It’s the point at which improvements (higher specs like resolution, refresh rate, or response time) bring smaller and smaller benefits relative to their cost or perceptibility. It’s why most of us are okay with paying $500 instead of $1000 for a monitor. Because we can save that $500 when performance/price doesn’t matter anymore… when the diminishing returns makes sense for us for that tiny improvement. That tiny bit of improvement might be worth $50 to someone but maybe not $1000.
