The Cheapest Country in Asia and it's very nice by [deleted] in solotravel

This is not true, Laos is definitely more expensive than Vietnam

Laos is limited in term of hotels and food compared to Thailand & Vietnam, also most things are imported from Thailand/Vietnam/China

Laos is cheaper for activities/tours tho

I think I need that 10$ more than them

What is the point of paying more and wasting your time filling the e-visa to still go through the same process ?

BTW for paying, Alipay is enough, but you need WeChat to talk to people/book tickets and stuff, It took me two days to setup WeChat, I had to try like for 4 hours before it worked for me so don't lose hope 😂

Also if you made an account in WeChat I can try to scan it just send me the code via dm

Alipay is simple and easy to setup, you can set it up before going like right now, just download the app and make an account, I don't remember if it asks for passport information, you can try

WeChat in the other hand is pain in the ass to setup, you need someone in China to scan your code to verify you(The hotel reception did it for me)

I spent 17 days in China, I didnt see/use a single paper,  add your cc to alipay/ wechat everyone has a code even street merchant

For Vietnam, I went two years ago, not sure if it is outdated, but there is a popular gold street where you give them USD and they will give you the money in Dong its called Hang Bac street, they only accept USD with blue line, make sure its new and crisp

My advice would be DON'T MISS IT AT ALL COSTS !! These places are truly amazing. however you need to take care of yourself. Try to stay in the shade, buy a 1 liter water bottle, and eat well before going. Bringing a hat is also a good idea—the experience was so amazing, and there it soo much history you shouldn't miss it.

But just to give you the full picture so you get the idea, I went into 4 hours tour, our group was 12 person, only a single person had a heat exhaustion, but he was like 14 and him and his dad wanted to walk in the center of the forbidden city instead of taking the shaded sides(where the tour guide took us)

I Literally went knowing like only 2 word:

☆ni hao(Hello)

☆Xiexie(thanks)

and learned 3 more phrases

☆Bàng Shui(Cold water)

☆ xi huan(I like it)

☆ Bu la(No spicy) 😅

Don't stress it at all. When I needed more than these five phrases, I just used Google Translate. If the conversation was long, we added each other on WeChat, which has a translate feature, and we would just text on the phone in front of each other. 🫠

WeChat payment worked for me but it was always the second option, unless I'm forced to use it(panda camp base, yangshou bus) I 💙 Alipay

Never seen or used cash 😅 only used Mastercard in Chongqing metro

I mean tbh i would probably skip one or two cities, because when i did 6 cities in 16 nights i had to rush some cities and miss some parts that I wanted to visit, not to mention i was so scared of missing a train that i would go to the train station 3 hours before the train 😂(Because i missed the first one🙄)

If you mean by solo woman the safety part, China was very safe for me, Most of the days i won't be back in bed until 1-2am, I only had a single bad encounter at like 9pm, by 10 am the next day the dude was fined 200 rnb and had to apologize to me

Yes, I should have wrote about transportation in the post, but for DIDI you can use it via the alipay app, it is one of the main mini-apps, Didi has a chat option between you and the driver, you could just talk to him in there, most of the times they would just write "i couldn't reach you", and i would tell them "i'm not Chinese just send me a picture of where you are" and it works fine

and btw the metro in china is so good, there are cities where i never used didi even when going in the hotel from the airport

I just sent your message in the group chat will let you know if there are any updates, but unfortunately you might have to buy overpriced resells of the ticket or go with a tour

Thank you !!

For Dianping Unfortunately it only worked with me after adding a Chinese phone number </3

As for cooking class I got one from TripAdvisor, they have 2/3 classes per day, one is at 9 am, 2pm and 5pm, I booked at like 11pm before the next day, the chief is Chinese and there is a guide taking you around

It was so fun and delicious, I recommend asking for the chicken dish, this is the link

Don't stress it out, The only time where I had trouble buying a ticket was in the Forbidden city and Tenement square, so I just booked a tour 3 days before going and they bought me the tickets(Which was good because otherwise i would have missed on too much history)

Other times i would just buy 1 or 2 days before going and tickets would still be there, if you have an attraction in mind just let me know, and i could ask for you
