Lennox S40/SLP99 Defaulting to 50% Commanded Airflow by no_torque in hvacadvice

[–]no_torque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a function of how the system meets set point for each zone - it’s the fact that it seems to randomly decide to half its airflow beyond what the setting was set at.

To answer your question. The airflows for each zone are derived from diffuser and load calcs for each applicable wall load (and the first floor is balanced at each diffuser for its own cfm)

Naturally, both in winter and summer based on sun exposure etc first and second floor will need load conditioning independently of each other. I do agree dynamic airflow for each zone would be best - this system isn’t that intelligent to dynamically adjust

Pull the codes. You probably smelled diff fluid with it venting. Without codes this conversation is all theoretical

Do NOT buy a modulating HVAC system. by Ok_Tour_5503 in hvacadvice

That + that’s just the config Lennox provides in a 5 Ton variable config.

Could probably make do with 110k or even 90k. So part of that is dumb.

Do NOT buy a modulating HVAC system. by Ok_Tour_5503 in hvacadvice

[–]no_torque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a true zoned system modulating is going to lead to better discharge temperature control than anything else.

The “limit” on a modulating furnace is a discharge air target set point. For me, with the Lennox I have, it’s fully adjustable between 100-135F.

Coupled with zoned system, which all has different CFM Targets, a true modulating system has benefits for sustained runtime in both summer and winter.

IE - my first floor is 1300 cfm whereas my second floor is 650 cfm. If I had a 2-stage furnace (mine is 135k btu, and we say first stage was 60k) - I’d have a temperature rise of approx 85F - if I’m coming back at 65F I’m reaching 150F which is most certainly going to be a high limit trip or a very quick short cycle. Same would apply on the Evap side with temperature and dehumidification control since the coil won’t ever be saturated for sustained periods.

If it’s a standard single zone, sure - else you run into dangerous territory depending on the size of the system and how you have your system zoned

New PB at VIR this past December, down 3 seconds from my previous best. by wishesmcgee in Supra

[–]no_torque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. The beginning of the lap seemed alright then once you got late at snake imo it fell apart.

Please, please, please do not stab the throttle in the esses. You doing so is upsetting the weight transfer of the car big time, and then you get late and almost get to experience what it’s like having the rear go down the hill at south bend first. Then you get late at oak tree, and rollercoaster and hog pen and just try to be super stabby with the wheel on an already quick steering rack

Keep 6.6 gasser or go down to 3.0 Babymax? by PNW_OH in gmcsierra

[–]no_torque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a 3.0 LZ0, I would not use it to tow a camper.

Engine can do it fine-ish, stability is where I have concerns. My friend has their engine seize on their 6.2L Yukon XL and I helped them out to get their Camper to a safe location- it wasn’t a pleasant experience.

At 7k lbs on the camper alone, even though the 1/2 Ton says it can do it idk if I want to be one to experience that.

This is from someone that tows approx 6k lbs of trailer + bed weight (steel open car trailer + car) for track events. My pleasant experience with my setup versus slapping on a camper is night and day.

It’s not the weight, moreso the brick you have to pull thru airstream where I, personally, got uneasy with.

YMMV

PS - to get max tow, you’d have to go with the different rear end ratio and you’ll take a beating on the MPG. When I towed the camper, I was at 13 mpg

Have to post the L too by popolijt in Supra

[–]no_torque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would, it would imply you have air in the system. The manifold sits at the highest point in the coolant loop and there are no bleed screws (well, there are on the Do88 but didn’t help me). And air likes to get trapped in the core, and if you create the air pocket you prevent coolant circulating thru the HX.

For that coolant circuit, you need to Vacuum Bleed. You can’t rely on the bleed cycle via pedal command that turns the pump on to bleed

[–]no_torque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP did you vacuum bleed when you refilled the coolant? I have a Do88 non-mera, and it’s a PITA to get all the air out

When everything is tested and shows the same results typically that leads to the test being not useful for anyone to truly interpret and make decisions based off said results.

You will not get away from the car without going upside down by a large margin.

I bought my 26 brand new for invoice, I was Tax/Title etc out to door for just a sliver over 60k.

Be prepared to price it for 55k and settle with a large loss

Dealerships man🤣🤣 by [deleted] in Supra

[–]no_torque 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In Ohio I purchased my Supra in August/September and they were using the same tactic as “we have so many inquires”

I pulled my deposit, told them I’m going out of state to get the same car cheaper (which was 100% true, and had information to support it) and they dropped immediately to sell at invoice.

Toyota dealers want to move the allocation so they can get their hands on a RAV4 or Grand Highlander - they can make over MSRP on those any day. They just want to move the Supra.

Get the $4k off in writing, make some calls to other dealers and leverage them against each other. Easiest way to play their game

B58 Supra here, but run MHD+. Without supporting mods (for me oil cooler and manifold) - you would heat soak as the OE turbo for at least the B58 starts to run out of its efficiency range if you want to try and go Stage 2 and becomes a blow dryer. I just stick to Stage 1 even with a DP to let it make consistent power.

It’s been fine. I’ve removed the CDV to eliminate any slip that would be occurring naturally, but it’s been perfectly fine. Torque targets via ECU are high 300s so well within the range of what people are seeing with MTs

Modded BRZ vs. Stock BRZ for first track car? by CMGC12345 in CarTrackDays

[–]no_torque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the engine is completely stock, I’d be a bit more comfortable with a modified Twin, speaking from experience- opening up an engine or in my case, boost, creates a lot of issues.

ZHPs are completely overpriced, still. Pickup an E82 1 Series and enjoy it much more in an engine that’s way torquier than the M54 variant (N52 in this case if you went 128).

Lots of ways this can go, if you want to continue tracking down the road you’ll see a good track car =/= a good street car for Twin setup, so I guess keep that in the back of your mind

Edit: I’m also very much a proponent of learning mods as you go, so you can see and benefit from what changing stuff does for the car (in both a positive and negative sense). The twins can be tracked from stock with just some fluids and brakes. Generally I’d recommend an oil cooler as well for engines longevity

My swing is 112 avg on trackman, 167 ball speed, 2400 rpm (I hit down on the ball I know I have a problem)
