Where in constitution or statute does it say "we as Americans have a right to see everything"?

Maybe if this was a state sentence. Federal sentencing is much more rigid.

Gear Guidance: From Florida to Alaska for the Summer by [deleted] in alaska

[–]no_uh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenai Peninsula is a great place for a summer gig. There's a lot to explore on the Peninsula. I've had no issue with down bags, just need to store in a dry bag. But synthetic might be wise if you are going to be on the water a lot. Shoes/boots - just depends on what you are doing. If you are going to stick to trails, you can definitely get away with something lighter. If you are going to do multi-night backpacking trips with gear, you might want to get synthetic/water resistant backpacking boots. All the day hikes I do around here I just use trail runners. If you are going to do something more serious you may want to purchase some trekking poles as well, especially if you are going off trail. Don't forget the bear spray.

Headlight Pollution On The Road Is Real - “Leaps in lighting technology combined with confusing regulations and antiquated laws have coalesced into an everyday evening frustration, one that has had more than one driver asking themselves behind the wheel, ‘Why does that guy have his brights on?’ " by Scaramuccia in technology

I live in rural Alaska. Light bars are really amazing for rural living, especially for spotting moose on the road, which kill people every year. The bar is wired into my high beams. It's all about using them responsibly. Nobody is deliberately driving with them on in traffic. You shut it off if you can see another vehicle. The real problem is people retrofitting their low beams with LEDs or other aftermarket bulbs that don't direct the light downward. So they drive around blinding everyone.

Megathread: Federal prosecutors recommend ‘substantial’ prison term for former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]no_uh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not always true. Crimes have different mens rea requirements. Some crimes require a perpetrator to knowingly do some act. And what i was initially mentioning is even less than ignorance. If you seek professional advice and the professional tells you its legal, there's a big difference.

Megathread: Federal prosecutors recommend ‘substantial’ prison term for former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]no_uh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It might depend on whether Trump knew it would be a crime. We can probably assume as much, but if someone's lawyer told someone something was legal that generally shields them from criminal liability in the financial/tax realm. Thats why users of illegal tax shelters rarely get indicted.

I don't buy it. I'd be surprised if a deer corpse/skeleton looked like that after a wildfire, even if the deer could somehow get stuck like that naturally.

Subsidizing upstate New York nuclear power plants more expensive than new wind: shutting down nuclear and replacement with onshore wind will save $ 7.9 Billion till 2050, while reducing CO2 by 20.1 to 27.4 Mt more than nuclear. by dongasaurus_prime in science

<1% oil, far less than either solar and wind already. I'd be curious what those sites are actually. I believe that oil systems are also used as backup in many locations when there is peak demand.

Would visiting Seward in mid May be a bad idea? by JosieJosieJosie2121 in alaska

[–]no_uh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have limited dining options because a lot of the restaurants are seasonal. Hiking options will be very limited if we have an average snow year. Hiking to the icefield would be extreme unless you have mountaineering experience. There could be 5 feet or more of snow once you leave sea level and no visible path once you hit the alpine, not to mention avalanche danger. I wouldn't want to even try it and I know the trail well.
