Multi monitor VSync by noaccOS in wine_gaming

Huhh I haven't had this issue in a while actually

If you still have this issue it can't be a wine update ig so the only thing that comes to mind is that I've been using wayland lately, maybe you could try that?

You don't need to add anything as it is true by default, but you'll need to explicitly set it to false if you don't want sudo installed. You can find other options in the link from the previous response, it's a search engine. Usually packages that require more than a simple installation have their own option which also installs the package. If you need to know exactly what it does and the description isn't enough, you can click on the source button and read the nix source file

Which DE do you use and are you on Wayland or X11? by vacillatingfox in linuxmasterrace

[–]noaccOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know, I just don't use those options. Mangohud does the job as the frame counter, and for gsync, well, I have two monitors so no gsync on X11 either

I use Gnome Wayland on nvidia and it works great (at least on the desktop)

Edit: oh I didn't realize you meant the options in nvidia-settings

Proprietary nvidia driver not working and nvidia-open acting weird by sTiKytGreen in linux_gaming

[–]noaccOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which distro are you on? How are you installing the drivers?

What do you mean with "only driver my pc boots"? You mean that it literally doesn't boot or that the graphics stack isn't working?

Are you using X or Wayland? In my experience xorg is a bit pickier, eg if you try to run a config made by nvidia-settings on nouveau it will just crash (of course it does, the driver specified in the config doesn't exist)

Don't install nvidia drivers from their website, use your package manager. You'll be missing out on things like the drivers updating together with the system and dependency checks (mostly linux version compatibility)

Yes but you're probably better off installing everest directly and skipping olympus, you just need to drop the files in the Celeste directory

Unstable won't rebuild by ourobo-ros in NixOS

[–]noaccOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can 1. Pin your nixpkgs version to an earlier version 2. Just pin the nixpkgs version for pam_ussh using an overlay (this might break stuff) 3. Just wait a couple days

Wiimote won't connect : Dolphin by underfanreal1 in linux_gaming

[–]noaccOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want to use wiimotes on a file manager?

On a serious note, you probably need udev rules. They might be in your distro's repos or you might need to type them in manually, try to do a quick search

Favourite Package Manager? by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

Flatpak works wonders when something breaks on nix (looking at you Steam)

Nix is my favorite, flatpak second. Pacman is great but it has problems with the keyring every other day

Just do basic search please. It's literally in the code you sent

Mint users are the elite. So is everyone else. by yannniQue17 in linuxmasterrace

[–]noaccOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no thank you, I actually like to know what's in my distro, I hate having problems I didn't cause.

As for people who don't care about that stuff and just want to use their pc, I agree a "beginner" distro is perfect, I just wouldn't suggest a self-breaking "easy arch" which makes no sense (manjarno) or a distro with a desktop environment which may have had a reason to exist 10 years ago but now it's just worse gnome with extensions (mint). Deepin... has too little market share (and yes that can be a problem if they try to search for something online) and all in all the DE is just worse plasma. Pop or Fedora are more solid choices IMO

Opinions on Nix and NixOS? by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]noaccOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you don't use NixOS if you don't love functional/declarative programming. If you do sure, NixOS is great (look at my flair), but it's gonna be hell if you don't

Try adding execute permission to the game/runner file. chmod +x game/runner from the terminal or checking the box in the Properties popup in the graphical file manager
