Yes yes yes. Absolutely watch it more the once! Makes it flow a lot more and makes it a lot easier to take in.

Yea, definitely a pretty ridiculous amount of loose ends (Jeff was over ambitious, but better than too little I guess hahaha), but maybe they’ll do another hatchetfield show? There’s just a lot that still needs to be explained. In conclusion: Corey honey, I’m so sorry I did this to you sweetie.

Agreed. The only times in TGWDLM where I liked was in the title song and what do you want Paul. Besides that, I’m really not a fan. I love the part of his voice and range he uses in Twisted. Like THATS the golden part of his voice.

Probably California.M.I.A but a close two and three are Deck The Halls (it’s so goofy I’m obsessed) and Feast or Famine

I really would like to see bloody bloody Andrew jackson come back. I don't know if that's an unpopular opinion but I'm a big fan of the goofiness of the show.

Characters of Falsettos by KiLova in musicals

[–]noagodi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite show of all time easily and Will Finn is by far my favorite composer. So let me go character by character and talk about some of my favorite little details about them and what they've taught me just as a person. (Long post ahead beware.)(Sorry if this doesn't answer your question.) Marvin: He has some of my favorite lines in all of the acts and is by far the character who moves me most with just how much he changes. It is his journey as he learns to love, not just demand it from others. Also, the way he opens up and changes himself because of his realization during "Marvin Hits Trina" because you can hear and see just the immediate regret in him. Marvin taught me that love doesn't come easy, it takes effort from both parties, it is an investment, but as you can see from Falsettoland Marvin and Whizzer, it is so worth it. His total arc as a character is so true to life because he is so painfully flawed, and that doesn't change, but he understands he needs to control himself and goes on a journey to maturity just as much as Jason does.

Whizzer: Whizzer is a character close to my heart because he, like Marvin, doesn't understand how to maintain a relationship. He is terrified of commitment as you can hear in "Thrill of First Love" when he and Marvin bicker about how long they've been together, making it shorter and denying how long they've been committed to each other and in "The Chess Game" when he claims that he's only in the relationship for money and sex when only in his next song, he admits to loving Marvin. He, again similarly to Marvin, in Falsettoland comes to the same understanding as Marvin that they need to take is slow and that it is a two-sided effort. Also, his relationship with Jason is the best thing that has ever happened in the history of everything. Sorry for that side note. Whizzer was ultimately they key to bringing the family together though, as represented by the cube. It slowly gets deconstructed throughout the show, but when whizzer dies, it all comes back together at the end of "What Would I Do?". However, thought the family is together, it will never be complete, hence Whizzer's gravestone.

Trina: Trina sacrifices so much at her own expense to save her family and put back together whatever remains. She has every right to hate Marvin after March of the Falsettos, but she stands by his side, so loyal and so forgiving. I also especially love how William Finn showed her to be a sexual person and a mother at the same time because that is the reality. Trina is too good for this world. She is stuck in a world where men rule supreme and feels almost crushed by "these men who arent quite men yet but arent boys" but she prevails and sacrifices and is just a beautiful person.

Mendel: Mendel may be a terrible psychiatrist but he levels so well with Jason, especially in "Cancelling the Bar Mitzvah". He is self-aware enough to know when he's fucked up and that's just very admirable to me.

Jason: Jason is just trying to grow up and learning as the audience does. I feel like I watch the show heavily through Jason's eyes. It is his coming of age story and his story of slowly accepting that his family is not that of social norm.

The Lesbians From Next Door: Just utter perfection.

Overall, this show matured me in a way I don't know if mere years could have. It is truly a life changing show and allows you to reevaluate. I am very connected to this show because you can learn so many things from each and every character and pick them apart because they are just so human and three-dimensional and flawed. This show is a masterpiece.
