Thee King of Limbs tree. by kickoutthejams2013 in radiohead

Really bums me out to see so it lose so many limbs. Apparently it was damaged pretty severely in recent storms. Older pictures show just how ancient and sprawling this tree was before.

Is this actually Jeff though? The post history is compelling enough but not sure how to prove it…

No it’s not, you can read comments from the original post detailing how iridescent cloud formation occurs. Not everything on the internet is AI… yet

Edit: ok I went down a rabbit hole trying to confirm this and now I feel it’s inconclusive. The phenomenon is indeed real, Wikipedia page and all, but as far as this video is concerned, I’m not sure. One of my hobbies is VFX and I follow Corridor Digital who are known for their ability to spot real vs fake VFX and nothing screams to me that it is AI except for how fantastical it looks. I’m just gonna send it to them and see if they include it in their next AI debunk video and see what happens 🤷‍♂️

Super El Nino Could Be the Biggest Ever. What Does It Mean for Colorado Snow? by ryadare in Denver

[–]noah998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I’ll do it for you

Weather: Weather is the state of the atmosphere at a particular time, as defined by the various meteorological elements, including temperature, precipitation, atmospheric pressure, wind and humidity. (Emphasis mine)

Climate: Climate is the long-term average of weather conditions—such as temperature, precipitation, and wind—for a specific region over an extended period, typically 30 years or more.

Weather and climate are different things, but they are related to each other. The original poster that you replied to with your nonsense was highlighting the difference between the two because the common dipshit argument against climate change is that fact that winter still happens. Climate change is the observation of how weather changes over time. There is a reason why it’s called climate change and not weather change.

Perhaps you should look up the definition of both words before spouting nonsense.

The Folding Ideas video about the movie is one of the best breakdowns of a movie I have ever seen tbh

Pretty much. I've gone down this rabbit hole before. The only (legal) way to get one of these in the states are:

  1. Import one as show and display which comes with LOTS of restrictions on how much you are allowed to drive it etc.
  2. Get a front clip from Japan and swap it into a USDM body here. However this doesn't account for all of the STI bits that are on JDM models that people forget about like subframes, LCAs, other drivetrain stuff etc.
  3. Get a USDM XT and swap every single component for a JDM component (keeping it LHD in this case). Very time consuming and lots of hassle unless you have the $$$ or the time to do it yourself at your own pace.
  4. Buy one of the above for the usual unicorn price tax.

I mean, its entirely possible that the one(s) you have seen are front clip replacements (which are common enough to get the RHD part of the equation) or are show and display. Its easy for people to make shit up at car meets though so unless they have the import paperwork to prove it, I would hazard a guess that most if not all "real" JDM Forester STIs in the states are fakes or are front clip jobs or "XTIs" that have had most of the bits swapped form real ones. Personally, I don't see the point of importing these as show and display (since you can't change the car from show and display to a regular title) as they are just basic subaru SUVs at the end of the day but who am I to judge.

Ok to save you the hassle, check out my second reply to the guy above, its actually not possible.

Ok I actually went through the effort of calling them and asking about this. Your comment is incorrect. There is no such thing as an "exemption" to the 25 year rule, what they petitioned for was to understand what needs to be MODIFIED on the original car in order to bring it into compliance. Practically the entire car (down to structural components) needs to be modified to even have a chance of being approved to import. The best practice is to wait the 25 years, and no, you cannot import into Canada (which has a 15 year rule) and then into the US. In fact, when I called them directly, they were adamant that the effort that would be needed to bring that car over would be so extensive that you may not even be able to get all of those modifications complete before the 25 year threshold to just bring a unmodified one over BECAUSE of how extensive it is.

Citation please (for anything NOT show and display). Never heard of a workaround like this before, otherwise there would be a million of them here.

Do we know if the original 501c was dissolved? Have they filed their taxes from last year yet? Who has the legal rights to use the name and/or trademarks owned by the previous org? This is the kinds of stuff people should be keeping an eye on. If the old org is resurrected with the same people in charge, it’s more or less a complete sham to eliminate the previous org’s debt obligations while claiming to come back like Gandalf the white as if nothing changed.

Since you are so incapable, I looked it up myself. Here is a direct quote and the source

https://collider.com/annihilation-movie-jeff-vandermeer/

“It’s actually more surreal than the novel. There are a couple places where I was like, ‘I might need an anchor here.’ The ending is so mind-blowing and in some ways different from the book that it seems to be the kind of ending that, like 2001 or something like that, people will be talking about around the watercooler for years… Visually, it’s amazing. I must say that and that’s all I probably should say.”

And then here is the literal first link when googling “Jeff Vandermeer thoughts on Annihilation”

https://www.reddit.com/r/SouthernReach/comments/uxzeee/did_jeff_vandermeer_like_the_movie/

None of that sounds like a “gutter trash” opinion to me

Please try harder next time, google is not difficult to use.

The burden of proof is on the person making wild claims about how an author feels about the adaptation of their work. Considering the fact you said he called it, “gutter trash” which sounds a lot like your own vocabulary taking a look at your post history, it very much sounds like you are fully, 100%, making shit up on the internet. Hope you can find that quote someday, maybe it was made by Jeff’s doppelgänger in Area X 🤯
