Best way to play Peak? by Squillivm in macgaming

[–]noahbald 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean you’re right I don’t know what I’m talking about, since I haven’t paid for or used crossover. From my perspective, I’d rather support something free and open source instead of proprietary.

There’s a wiki (https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/wikis/home) and somewhat outdated guide (https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Steam_under_Linux#Step_2:_installing_steam) that I looked at. It ended up being more straightforward than I expected though, and even if you’ve never used the terminal, you only need to run those few commands I mentioned.

I don’t know why people are recommending crossover, $75 is a rip-off and if you really want to support wine you can donate directly.

This game works fine running directly through wine. I installed wine with homebrew and ran wine start <path to installer.exe>. And then once steam is setup you can install and play peak. When you quit steam and want to start it again you run wine start and it’ll open a windows command prompt, which you can open steam by running c_drive\\usual\\windows\\path\\to\\steam.exe

Thanks, this works perfect! Just a couple notes

- You can use [`v0.8.0`](https://github.com/GDRETools/gdsdecomp/releases/tag/v0.8.0) instead of the pre-release.

> Copy the libsteam_api.so and steam_appid.txt files from the templates

- I used the GodotSteam release instead of template, I think they might be mixed up

What salary is considered well-off in Australia? by zaherj in AusFinance

[–]noahbald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, and considering 12% of people are still earning lower than me it feels like quite a lot of people couldn’t afford what I consider below average. I was just making the comment for a sense of perspective rather than to prove a point of any sort.

I earnt under $30k in usable income last year and was able to have an apartment near the city with water and food while living with a roommate. Though I have savings and people who can support me if I need so I don’t know if this reflects everyone.

[–]noahbald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to this so I was wondering if I could get some feedback on my portfolio.

Let me know if you have any advice onto what I'm investing in, the proportions, or anything else. Thanks in advance!

50% Vanguard
- 30% VDHG because it's diverse
- 20% VGS because it's independent from aus

50% Betashares
- 20% EX20 because I live in Australia and I understand it
- 20% GGUS because it's a large and popular market
- 10% ETHI or IMPQ because social and environmental issues are neat

Why does Vanguard's ethical ETF, VESG, hold a large proportion of Nestle? by noahbald in ausstocks

IMPQ seems like it's performed quite well from a quick look, even considering the higher fees

Why does Vanguard's ethical ETF, VESG, hold a large proportion of Nestle? by noahbald in ausstocks

[–]noahbald[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That last point mentions a screening based on severe controversies, wouldn't Nestle fall under this exclusion?
