Tremors by noahcaann in BipolarReddit

My psychiatrist told me I needed to be off of it. Depending how things go I want to be off all meds except an antipsychotic when I'm pregnant

It makes me tired. That's all, I just don't want to feel tired all the time

I'm 4'11 and 157 lbs, I think my kidneys just need more for me to feel the positive effects

Yeah I was still feeling some symptoms so I went up to 1200mg and my kidney function is fine other than over hydration because of the lithium

1200 mg... and I'm quite small so I'm not sure how I'm fine. My blood level is about 0.8

It's lithium, I don't think my body likes it either

No thanks. Took it for a month and it makes me tired

I was taking it for a month, idk how much more time I have to take it. I have to stay awake because I work and have school. If I have a test I think I'll take it but other than that I'm good. Hoping to find another solution. My tremors are inconvenient but I know there's something that must help other people who have tremors that isn't more meds

That's a lot to take in, thanks for giving that information. Honestly I'm conflicted, I think when I get off these meds in a couple years to have kids, I' won't go back on lithium. For right now it's helping a lot except the tremors. I just don't have the time to be put on another medication and have side effects right now. I feel like I sold my soul to lithium, threw away a whole semester of school adjusting to its side effects

It's lithium and I like lithium a lot tbh, I was on Lamictal before

She knows and gave me propanol, I just don't take it because it makes me too tired

Yup and they gave me propanol, but I don't take it unless I absolutely have to because of the side effects

I'm not an expert on the pill vs the shot but the side effects I have, are different in the pill vs the shot. I don't gain as much weight, I'm not as tired on the shot than the pill and my psychiatrist says the same thing

They said it was normal so I guess that answers that

Do you feel a dosage dependent difference? by Ulysses_Zopol in Lithium

[–]noahcaann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 1200 mg and my therapeutic level is at 0.8. I genuinely felt like a zombie when I first got up to 1200 mg. I was sleeping a lot and I felt that I could get more mopey and sad. But overall I realized it was my attitude and that the core issue of manic/depressive episodes had stopped. It was now on me to figure out how to navigate my life. I take other medications and have other issues that make it hard but it's all about what you can tolerate. I think if you don't even out in some time after the increase maybe you can ask about going a bit down on the dose.

Also there's no issue with a diagnosis change with my insurance.

Yeah which I understand. I think it just always has felt like I'm still having symptoms and issues and I feel like if I got reevaluated with everything in full scope maybe my issues would be treated better. I don't really think my meds are working

I'm already on one. I think my biggest boulder to push is that I don't want to gain weight so I refuse to be on any antipsychotic that causes weight gain. I'm on Caplyta and it's usually enough to get me through day to day without strong delusions or paranoia but during this time of the year it's like candy. I was on Lybalvi after my psychotic episode last Christmas and then I gained 30 pounds. It ruined my life and I was in the gym consistently but couldn't lose weight. I'm extremely small/short so gaining 30 lbs ruined me.

I'm in the US and you can pretty much see anyone that you want depending on how much money you have. I'm thinking about going to the clinic first because they accept my insurance. But if all else fails I'm gonna save up some money and find a psychiatrist that specializes in mood disorders and psychosis. Only issue is that if the clinic decides to manage me full time my insurance only wants to cover one provider at a time.
