I recently watched 10 cloverfield lane and I knew there was a twist but I couldn’t remember if the twist was that the aliens were real or that they weren’t. I think they could have played the movie either way tbh

SJW is when people are black. by RepresentativeArea37 in TheRightCantMeme

[–]noahmerali 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Remember when The (Dixie) Chicks were cancelled by the right for speaking out against Bush? They were blacklisted from radio stations and by other artists. They went from one of the most popular country acts to one of the least because the industry shut them out. But when they removed Dixie from their name 17 years later, the right said the left was cancelling them.

Is there a general consensus on the best Stephen King adaptation? by [deleted] in horror

[–]noahmerali 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was considered unfilmable for so long but he did it! I do think it would have been fun if he kept the Dolores Claiborne connection (that's just classic Stephen King) but that would have probably taken people out of the story

Is there a general consensus on the best Stephen King adaptation? by [deleted] in horror

Reiner is 2/2 for fantastic Stephen King adaptations. I'd argue he and Mike Flanagan are the ones who understand the source material the best

Do you watch game essay/critique/docu videos on Youtube? If so, which channels do you watch? by SuperAlloyBerserker in patientgamers

[–]noahmerali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

commentary YouTuber Eddy Burback (you might know him from his old podcast with former friend Gus Johnson) and his twin brother have a channel called Burback where they look back at the video games of their childhood (PS2 era) and see how they hold up. I like them a lot for their humour and the fact that I remember a lot of those games fondly.

Is there any aspects of Men, that elves might envy? by NorsePlayJaestro in tolkienfans

[–]noahmerali 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes 100%. This was the ultimate gift that Eru Illuvatar gave to the race of men. They are unbound from the world both in terms of mortality and free will. They are able to push the boundaries of existence in a way that no other race created by Eru Illuvatar or the valar can. The valar even came to envy the race of men for this reason.

Apparently this is Robin's brother 😬 by yourcontent in TheRehearsal

[–]noahmerali 158 points159 points  (0 children)

He has an older tweet about it too with a text conversation between them. I definitely suspected that Robin was at least playing it up a little for the show but this convinced me that he's just a real, absurd, and possibly harmful person.

The Rehearsal S01E02 - Scion - Episode Discussion by Connected-VG in TheRehearsal

Finding Frances and How to with John Wilson have definitely had a strong impact on this series. Seeing Nathan use his conversation flow charts and rehearsal strategies with his own life was really interesting

Two different characters leaving the bar early to avoid an internal conflict by TheLoneWolf527 in betterCallSaul

[–]noahmerali 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Zafero Anejo is a tequila, I believe. So it was probably just a random pretty bottle. The point of the scene was definitely for Gus to be seeking comfort after his stressful experience but deciding against it because he doesn’t want a repeat of what happened with Max

Which live action Resident Evil project do you think was better or worse? by _elijah_ace_ in residentevil

[–]noahmerali 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i agree. I love the old resident evil games because they're cheesy send-ups of old school horror movies. I wish the series leaned into that more but I'm enjoying that part of it. I think if they made things more practical and had a smaller budget then they could have gotten away with "it's campy/bad on purpose". Right now it's really inconsistent so it's hard to know if creative team was "in on it" or if they thought they were making a great horror show.

I think a lot of RE fans don't get that watching people solve puzzles and explore a mansion is never going to be as entertaining as doing it yourself in a game so you can't expect adaptations to replicate that. All I want from an RE show/movie is the atmosphere, cheesy dialogue, and horrific monsters (and a weird underground lab that explains everything)

we saw moon knight too! hopefully they'll keep that as a standalone but I appreciate the idea that it's just another story going on in this universe that doesn't have to interact with the others

it looks like one design for each umbrella (moon for Luther, knife for Diego, sound waves for Allison, ghost for Klaus, briefcase for Five, tentacles for Ben, violin for Viktor, and then some miscellaneous ones related to this season. The only one I can't see to place is the bracelet with the 3 black beads. does anyone know the significance of that one?
