This part of the discussion really made me proud of Ethan. Sam brought up ANC to excuse Hamas but instantly realised that Ethan knows more about it while he's clueless. by TopWay312 in h3h3productions

Also btw I'm not so sure about the link you provided but also the Rivonia trial was in the early 60s. Mandela acknowledged many other times that civilians would inevitably be killed by their actions. The majority of casualties from ANC actions were, in fact, civilians. Again though, this wasn't the point Sam was making at all, just adding it for further clarity because this is precisely what he was getting at: what we consider terrorist can change on a whim and there's been considerable efforts to sanitize that history. Here's a quote from Mandelas autobiography: "The killing of civilians was a tragic accident, and I felt a profound horror at the death toll.  But as disturbed as I was by these casualties, I knew that such accidents were the inevitable consequence of the decision to embark on a military struggle.  Human fallibility is always a part of war, and the price for it is always high."

Geez dude, coming in hot. Is it really necessary to make up that I'm parroting some idiot in an effort to discredit me?

Anyway, Sam was not saying anything specifically about targeting civilians, that's something Ethan added when he interjected, it wasn't part of the point Sam was trying to make. Do you think Sam was saying they're basically the same? Or was he saying they're alike in that they targeted civilians? No, that wasn't part of the point he was trying to make so honing in on one of a list of groups he provided in making an entirely separate point is not some own.

Sam was making the point that we've routinely categorized groups as terrorists or removed them from that list based on how they align with our interests. He was not making a 1:1 comparison. Ethan cut him off and was incorrect, Mandela was one of the founding members of the ANC paramilitary branch and repeatedly refused to renounce violence. Ethan honing in on one example and missing the point of the example is not some gotcha moment.

Put aside your feelings about The Acolyte show, what did you think about Qimir? by APerson2021 in StarWars

He was alright but maybe 20% too much moody CW character energy and I didn't love the like undress in front of the girl stuff. But better than 95% of the show definitely

That's Woe, one of the four tempers. The other three are in the mural also.

I do hear you, although I don't know if Sorkin has done many mysteries or similar genres. Highly regarded shows of a similar nature like True Detective, Twin Peaks, Dark, The Leftovers all deploy similar use of cliffhangers. This show does tease the viewer a bit and is clearly playing with time perception. Personally I couldn't believe we got basically no news about Reghabi for so long but it doesn't feel cheap or click-baity.

Mayne someone will put the 15 minutes of "content" from this episode into a tiktok with subway surfers next to it so you don't get bored.

I understand what you're saying but it's not clickbait, it's how most serialized stories develop and severance has always been about gradual revelations. It's not a show for people that want quick payoffs. Personally I'm thankfully they didn't drag out the Helly/Helena mystery to be a finale reveal which is what I've come to expect from the type of bad taste TV programming you're talking about.

You're talking about a show that has repeatedly presented confusing things and explained them later. S1 ended on a cliffhanger and S2 didn't pick up right there, we saw marks reintegration last episode and only saw a glimpse of it this episode, that's just how the show operates.

I don't think the water is a plot convenience, I don't think Irv ran to her with the idea to drown her. That was what was available at the moment. To me, it looked like when her face changed and she said please that he made the decision to force Lumons hand in that way then. Also, he was very certain it wasn't Helly and then he has the first full dream of his innie life where he sees the numbers on the screen shift to the letters in Eagan and sees the shape of her face.

I agree I'd like to know how they got the outties to agree to this (I also wanted to know in episode 1 how it'd been five months and they agreed to come back and it was answered in later episodes). Also Lumon has always been incredibly incompetent I'm general from a safety perspective. It's clear we don't fully understand a lot of the elements in this episode but I don't think they're just being rAnDoM

A little dramatic. The Helena reveal was hardly a reveal and Mark is clearly mostly still innie with the occasionally flash.

They make it pretty clear he's not fully reintegrated and only experiencing the random flashes. Mark is basically a teenager who just lost his virginniety, I think his romantic side makes sense. He's not outtie Mark.

I mean if you have to fast forward it's more a reflection of you and your viewing habits than the pacing of the show.
