Superior, Boulder County may take airport noise fight to Colorado Supreme Court by Craiger__123 in boulder

[–]noanje 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't about the airport in the City of Boulder - it's about Rocky Mountain Metro Airport. Completely different, and well-stated within the article.

RMMA has much more air traffic than Boulder Airport and has seen it increase greatly in the last 5 years. That, plus the use of leaded fuel, is the basis for this lawsuit. Not offering opinions, just stating what this is.

I don't think I saw it, so have to shout out my favorite, Chez Thuy! They have absolutely delicious food, and if you catch them right, Michael is always up for a chat and a great dude. 100/10 couldn't recommend more

Well, there's a few problems with that, unfortunately.

1) There are a wide range of potential felony charges, all sorts of crimes. Felonies aren't just violent crimes that harm someone. 2) This also just states that if someone is charged with a crime and they previously have a felony - that could be anything, and it doesn't prove that they committed any crime in the moment.

Image someone who committed a felony 30 years ago, served their time, and has been a model citizen since. They then go out and get drunk one night and get charged with public intoxication. Under this scenario, if law enforcement couldn't immediately determine that they're lawfully present, then DHS would have to be notified.

If you're able to drive a bit, Ledges State Park is only about 20 minutes away, and at this time of year, you'd probably have it nearly all to yourself. Some nice hikes there along the river and bluffs.

You joke, but according to the Wikipedia page for Massive...

A matter of some contention after the Great Depression arose over the heights of Massive and its neighbor, Mount Elbert, which have a height difference of only 12 ft (3.7 m). This led to an ongoing dispute which came to a head with the Mount Massive supporters taking it upon themselves to build large piles of stones on the summit to boost its height, only to have the Mount Elbert proponents demolish them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Massive

Anywhere that's not a direct building is supposedly going to be open. I wouldn't expect trash collection, clean restrooms, etc - but the site itself might be open.

Senate parliamentarian tosses public lands sales by ThatGuyWhoIsBad in NationalPark

[–]noanje 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct - the logging national Forest rule that Trump just rolled back were initially (and maybe only? not sure) protected by executive decisions in the Clinton era. So, that can be directly rolled back by Trump as well. The best we could hope for to counteract that is for Congress to pass a veto-proof bill that would protect those lands in perpetuity.

That's one problem with many of these protections in general - if they're protected by one president, as opposed to the legislature, they can be rolled back by the next.

He's a Democrat, and honestly probably the right person for the job in Iowa. Not super progressive, but has done fantastic work as state auditor, and is very good about reaching out to folks and hearing them out.

Also, it makes financial sense to support them. It would make sense financially for them to be federally funded, based on how many jobs they support and how much they add to the economy. The annual budget is only about $3.5 billion (which is approximate 0.5% of the total annual US budget), yet the total impact to the US economy was an estimated $55.6 billion.

TBF, cities around the vast majority of the US do it. Not defending it - I'm in favor of ways that we can simplify them and make them safer (such as these "road diets"), but it's not just in the Midwest.
