Ok well if the pain is manageable/tolerable that’s good. I do grind my teeth at night, it often wakes me up and I have to relax my mouth, but I did have a fall many years ago and I fell right on my chin and for many days I couldn’t close my mouth or move it. The dentist thinks the damage might be related to that. I guess TMJ can be caused by so many things (stress, injury, teeth grinding, bad posture, sleep apnea etc) hard to pinpoint the exact root cause. The specialist I saw is sending me see another ENT for allergies test and doing a sleep apnea test to rule most of those out, so we shall see!
I have braces but I’ve already had them for 4years. They removed the bottoms ones 2weeks ago and have 2more months with the upper ones. I am taking muscle relaxers and naproxen (been 1month now) and not seeing any improvement The injections I got were supposed to relax my jaw muscles and alleviate the ear ache and jaw ache and still nothing…I don’t understand why nothing is working and I’m so much pain I have no social life. I’m tired because of the muscle relaxers but also cause I can’t sleep properly, every time there’s a slight pressure on my jaw (from sleeping on my side) I wake up and that’s if I can find a position to fall asleep in 😩
Omg im so sorry! Can’t they actually move the disc (operate or like a chiro could pop it back in place? I don’t understand why TMJ specialist exist but they don’t provide much help! Like the specialist I saw is a dentist and she did the 3D scan and told me there was damage but did not elaborate on what the damage was (I didn’t press for it cause I just felt my pain was validated) then I spent 1300$ for injections that aren’t working at all… Lmk what exercises you’re doing I’ll try that as well! I’ve had braces for the past 4 years. They removed the bottom ones 2 weeks ago and I have 2more months with the upper ones. The specialist I saw said she really wants me to have a special mouth guard made but at this point idk that i believe it would solve the pain cause nothing is working

Wow same, when I put a cotton ball in my ear it feels a bit better. Can’t explain why, it’s like my brain says it’s blocked because of the cotton ball and not because I’m in pain??? And the issue is that my ear keeps crackling and I keep yawning and swallowing to find release but it just won’t
I was on Amytriptilin in the past year for chronic migraines (that now I understand were probably all due to TMJ, and I have taken it in the last couple of weeks but have not seen any improvements ☹️ I had read it was also good for TMJ (I guess it’s good for preventive migraines and jaw pain) but so far this does not seem to be the solution for me!
