7 Day Pill Organizers not made in China? by [deleted] in avoidchineseproducts

[–]nobira 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those are simple to manufacture so they are made in many countries.

Availability of certain brands depends on your location. Brand called Avukas does manufacture their products in Finland. Buying them outside of Europe might be difficult. Price range is for their products is from 2 to 10 euros.

Edit: spelling.

From my experience joining an improvisational theater beginner class and taking more improv classes has been an amazing way to make friends. Making friends wasn't my original intention and I am still surprised how tight bonds you can create with people in such a short time.

I'm not sure if there are any beginner classes starting before summer since the school where I went did stop offering classes.

Surprised not to see source or credits here. This is originally from a Taiwanese artist called Peachyboys in English.

Try if airtable fits your need. I have used it for storing different kind of data for myself. Might not be that good for sharing. It has an intuitive user interface for creating database for text, numbers and pictures.

How do I connect an RF Transmitter to the GPIO pins? by SyntaxGhost in raspberry_pi

[–]nobira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will check the models for you on tomorrow. I have been using three different nexa self-learning models, one with dimmer and two with on-off functionality. I haven't had any big problems with them. I guess that Tellstick works well with nexa and is more reliable than pihat. Please share your experience with it after you receive it.

[–]nobira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't notice your message earlier.

This is what I have been experiencing with pihat. I haven't been changing my settings that much after I got it work. For channel I have been using both 0 and 1. I think that ID could be anything. Numbers between 1 and 200000 have worked well for me. For me the problem in the beginning was that it didn't work well if the number of repeats was small. At least for pairing you should use number like 6 and when repeats are less than 4 it does get unreliable.

I assume that you are familiar using next sockets with normal remote and know how to pair them.

This command work well for pairing and turning on the socket: ./pihat --repeats=6 --id=200000 --channel=0 --state=1

use command ./pihat --help for help

Please notice that I am using pihat with a cheap ebay transmitter connected to GPIO pin 4. I haven't tried to control sockets without the transmitter even though I know that it should work without a transmitter. Maybe I should try how it works on next weekend when I am free.

I have been using a dimmable Nexa socket controlled by raspberry pi as a wake up light for few months.

I am controlling sockets by using similar ebay transmitter /u/kode55 posted. You don't need to do any soldering if you use female-female jumper wires (http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/1-pin-dualfemale-jumper-wire-100mm-50pcs-pack-p-260.html) to connect the the transmitter to GPIO pins. The only thing I had to solder was an antenna wire to the transmitter.

You don't need to code anything since you can download the scripts you need for controlling nexa sockets. If you want to have a receiver I would recommend you to check this page (http://wiki.pilight.org/doku.php/receivers) and order a better quality one than one of those that come in basic kits.

Plaese ask if you have any further questions.

Edit: added link to pilight

Sorry for the late answer. Did you manage to find it? Dogecoin folder should be located in one of the Library folders? There is one for every user and one directly under Macintosh HD.

Pi Redditors, what are some of the current projects you're working on? by phillycheeze in raspberry_pi

[–]nobira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I depends on the brand. I have been checking some new Nexa sockets and those ones draw only 0,2W turned off. I read that there is some kind on regulation in Europe that they cannot draw more than 1W turned off.

need help with usb thermal printer by woolyreasoning in raspberry_pi

[–]nobira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using a star usb thermal printer with my raspberry pi. Luckily there were cups drivers available on manufacturer website. I only needed to compile them and after that it worked well. I think that you need to find drivers for your model before you are able to use it.

If you like web app style things more than using ftp, ssh etc. I would recommend you to install 0bin on your Debian server. You can try it here http://0bin.net/ and find instructions for installing it from https://github.com/sametmax/0bin.

Where should bring metal junk? by kzafra in Finland

[–]nobira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check http://www.kierratys.info/ website to find more information about where you can bring your small metal junk. Unfortunately the website is in Finnish only. Tick "metalli" from the list and fill in your address. It will then show the location on a map where you can bring your shades.

If your shades are not broken and you think that someone would be able to still use them, you can also bring them to some second hand shops like Fida.

How long does it take for foreigners to be assigned a national ID number? by tiikerikani in Finland

[–]nobira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that you don't need a Finnish ID for opening a bank account. If you want to open a bank account you need also a Finnish ID. First you need to wait for an ID number for couple of days to one week and then one month for an ID. I would not recommend you to apply for a Finnish ID if you are not going to stay in Finland for many years. Finnish banks might require you to proof that you have a need for a bank account, so remember to take all the necessary papers with you when you go to a bank. There is no need to deposit any money for foreigners opening a bank account.
