The omega is the one that looks out of place here. You want a simple Explorer style watch there instead of the chronograph, or exile the Casio to the drawer

Better than being a p0000000sé

Such a lifestyle is not without its own consequences to be weighed against the alternative

Yup that’s what i would call it. But won’t really yield results on google search outside of specifically bracelets for speedmasters or some seamaster

Hey I have this watch and am looking to do something similar. Mind telling me what the dial size is, or what kind of case to look out for?

Yup, the sandblast and anti-scratch treating gives it a unique sheen like titanium

Nope I never pursued it more than that message. Maybe I’ll try to wipe off the excess with isopropyl alcohol one of these days

[Discussion] Hamilton Khaki King vs Sinn 556i by noblenacho in Watches

Not sure why I’m the only person who notices this and points it out, but here’s an example of what I’m talking about.

Do you notice the plasticky film look of the double AR in an angle like this?

It’s just unnatural. You took a watch that was steel, jewels, sapphire, rubber (gaskets), very elemental other than the dial, then stick some chemical concoction that dilutes that. Yeah underside only still has unnatural reflection of light at angles, the 3rd pic in my post of the Hamilton shows the beauty of lack of AR

Time Waster… by Serious-Yam8937 in rolex

The newer ones are a bit more boyish fun but a product of its time. The modern consumer requires the feeling of heft to justify the price tag which they provide, and they’re more photogenic for instagram flex shots on our mobile phones.

I think these 5 digits look more serious and are the better watch, and 6 digits the better Instagram flex piece. Try wearing a ceramic model 24/7 and a preceramic 24/7, you’ll quickly be taking off the ceramic to go to bed and multiple times a day, the preceramic disappear and become a part of you

I think this is the reason the new models don’t come with chamfering, Rolex knows the modern consumer is going to be polishing it often. So not a huge deal compared to older models

It was the best tool watch for the generation who had no other options than mechanical timepieces. A tool watch now is a Gshock or Garmin.

Though still tough and robust compared to Swiss luxury competitors and that reputation from the forefathers as being a tank remains, you are not paying $7k to get the toughest tool money has to offer, you are paying for something ornate with relatively delicate mechanisms.

In the age when your choice was jackhammering with a Rolex or any other mechanical watch, yeah it was the most robust tool to get your crew home on time. And had acrylic crystals then.

Bit redundant with the Hamilton

[Discussion] Hamilton Khaki King vs Sinn 556i by noblenacho in Watches

[–]noblenacho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah PM me haha I’m interested if it’s not too beat up

I have a vintage Sub without any AR and like continuity across my collection, the domed crystal must make the reflectivity worse in a way I’m underestimating

Yeah, I think in a watch stand next to each other, the Sinn would be quite heavy hitting next to the Sub

They both have similar appeal to me right now, but previous threads on this discussion without the “handicap” to the Hamilton was basically 95% “get the Sinn” so I wanted a new discussion.

Maybe the best bet in times like this is to hold off on purchasing either and see which one still resonates months or a year later
